On the nature of dominance and submission

I've always been a little bit into bondage and such when it comes to sex. Tying the person up, the idea of control and release. However I never really saw it as anything more than an activity like any other sex act. I did have a bit of common sense about it. I lost my slave in June last year and I know exactly what you are talking about. I think back to those times when I was flogging him or caning him and wonder if I will ever be that person again. I haven't lost my taste for the Domme roll I just feel like these days I am going to the munches and events of my group and it seem as though I am just going through the motions. Am I a Domme if I don't have the yang to my yin?

I don't know the answer to the question. As a woman I find myself taking a submissive role in more and more of my interactions in life. I know that I am not a BDSM submissive. I know that I'm not even submissive in vanilla sex. I am a control freak by nature as well. But, for me, the largest question for me is was I dominant simply because he was submissive?

I still desire the Master slave interaction, but I worry that it won't be as good, that I won't be able to get into that headspace again.

It is rough but typing that post helped. It felt like a good vomit when you have a hangover. I'm glad someone can relate to it. I'm Making a comic book about the experience as well. It's funny you mention being submissive in life but dominant with BDSM. I find that people with the most responsibility and grip on their surroundings crave submission and people who feel powerless and cast adrift crave control and dominance. But both crave one thing regardless of their approach. Order.
