Their usual Independence Day celebrations included beers and a star-filled sky at the end of the day. This year Dean had actual plans. For starters, he'd promised Jimmy he'd go home.
For once, luck was on his side and though they had been working a job a few states over, they had it done and dusted a day early. He'd make it back in time to see Jimmy.
Surprised he hadn't heard from the other man all day, Dean pulled up on the driveway having dropped Sam at a motel. His brother assured him he had other plans. Not that he had any idea what they were. He didn't hang around to ask a second time and now he was twisting his key in the frontdoor, expecting an armful of the brunette the second he was in the hallway.
Jimmy was still nowhere to be seen and Dean was starting to feel a heavy weight in the bottom of his stomach. He was getting worried.
Jimmy, once he heard Dean's voice, placed a palm down across his stomach and shifted from the dresser with the jeans and t-shirt he'd just been holding there in his hand.
"Eugh," he fought back nausea. "Yeah, Yes- Yes, Dean, I'm in here."
Still wearing the same frown, Dean followed Jimmy's voice up the stairs to their bedroom, head sticking in through the door before he headed inside. The fact that his hand never left the gun tucked into the waistband of his jeans was a reminder of his concern.
When he realized Jimmy was on his own, and looking like crap, he let his hand drop away and stepped closer, ducking his head to try and catch his gaze.
Jimmy released a sigh, "Nothing, Dean," not really anyway. He stumbled over to his mattress still looking haggard to get changed, his limbs feeling a little heavier than usual. "How was your..." he paused to let his stomach settle. "Hunt?"
