Timezone: Central
CHARACTER:
Name: Nessiah Aries Artwaltz / The Ancient / Aries
Age: Really damn old. Appears to be 19.
Series: Yggdra Union
Species: Angel, though he appears human
Gender: Male
Occupation: None currently
Point of canon to be drawn in: After Kylier is liberated. Battlefield 47.
Preferred level: Abyss
Appearance: Due to malnutrition, Nessiah is very frail and thin. His skin is incredibly pale from the lack of exposure to sunlight, and all over his body are numerous scars. He normally dresses in large robes that cover his entire frame. Poking out from under his hood are long blonde bangs that appear very matted and messy. His eyes are concealed by a metal face plate, and attached to each side the plate are two large chains that connect to cuffs on his wrists.
Personality: The experimentation and his strong hatred have not been nice to his mentality; he has turned cold to the suffering around him in order to achieve his goals. When he kills or manipulates someone, it is out of necessity. He is not about to waste trifling emotions on a lost cause.
He is also extremely dedicated. He will spend all of his energy into his projects to see them through. If you press the right buttons, he will follow you to hell if only to wring your neck. Because of this, it is best not to provoke him too much...quite a few have found this out the hard way.
He's never really had a sufficient amount of positive social interaction, and has lost understanding of the meanings of ideas like "friendship" and "loyalty" and only views them as a means to manipulate others. This can make interacting with him incredibly awkward and unpleasant. He can appear hurtful or difficult, even when he doesn't mean to be.
There was once another side to him, one full of the possibility for friendship, but his history has all but suppressed it. Nessiah trusts no one but himself. The compassion and desire for trust are still there, but have been sealed away in the innermost bowels of his soul.
Abilities: Nessiah has great magical power, and casting spells is as easy as breathing to him. Though his power has become greatly limited through his chains, he is easily able to break someone's neck with his mind is he so chose to do so. He is also blessed with genius-level intelligence and he can forge powerful artifacts if he is given the right materials.
Despite his blindness, he can "see" using his magic and his other senses. He is very reliant on his otherworldly powers, and could end up helpless if they were taken from him.
History: Going by the name of Aries in his earlier life, Nessiah was once and extremely pure and innocent soul. His great power attracted the attention of the gods, who were looking for great warriors, Grim Angels, to fight against the demons. However, Aries was a pacifist and refused the position.
In Asgard, it is taboo to refuse the will of the gods and he was shunned by his peers and castigated for this deed. Still though...such power and intelligence should not go to waste. If he didn't want to become a Grim Angel, then they would force him. But, one must be a willing subject in order to go through the natural process of becoming a Grim Angel. That didn't mean there was a possibility of other means to achieve that goal.
He was transferred to Hector and was used as an early test subject for his project in creating artificial Grim Angels. Hector used the Gran Centurio, Aries' prized sword, as a substitute "Diviner" (a weapon created for a Grim Angel in exchange for their most valuable belonging). His experiments on Aries were brutal, and included extensive attempts to synchronize him and his sword, and he even sent him to massacre the people in the Great Mage War. Once those experiments were done, Aries became much too damaged and unstable. Instead of facing the gods about breaking the Grim Angel they were looking forward to, Hector framed his ex-test subject for treason. The gods then imprisoned Aries under the island of Ancardia, holding him with the Chains of Conviction.
But Aries devised a plan to free himself from that isolation; he must pump his sword with enough power to shatter the chains. He created an incarnation of his will, Nessiah, and sent him along with the Gran Centurio to Midgard, where he was found by Paltina in the Kingdom of Fantasinia. There he gave the royalty his Gran Centurio, now a weapon that grew stronger with blood, and it became a symbol of justice for the Fantasinians. Their nation became an instrument in the conduct of many wars throughout history, the Gran Centurio becoming ever more powerful with each mortal slain.
Eventually we come to Yggdra's time, the time which the Gran Centurio was beginning to reach its full power. Since Fantasinia was in such a tender state at that period, Nessiah served under their foe, Bronquia, to regulate the enemy's actions. During his service, he took away the Undine's means of existence and told them that they could create a potion out of human blood to grant them eternal life, causing mass genocide. He also gave two mage rulers Ankhs, devices that multiplied the user's magical powers by several times, and caused those two to start a suicidal war in an attempt to gain each other's Ankh.
Nessiah is first seen in-game as a unit that intercepts the Royal Army from returning to the castle, and he almost emerges victorious. However, if he were to kill them off, then there would be no one to save Yggdra, the current bearer of the Gran Centurio, and his plan would be ruined, so he destroyed his own unit without a second thought and feigned suicide, defecting from the Bronquian Army
He then appeared again in Lost Aries (the place where he massacred the people of the Great Mage War), very much alive, and encouraging the Royal Army to save Yggdra before it's too late. After that brief moment, he disappears again, leaving some very confused Fantasinians.
His last appearance is on Ancardia, where he revived Yggdra's dead comrade, Kylier, and forced her to fight against the Royal Army. The Fantasinians had no choice but to kill Kylier and free her spirit, her death becoming the trigger needed to awaken the Gran Centurio’s full power. After that, Nessiah awaited the chance to finally liberate his sword and free his true body.
False memories: Once a very kind child, Nessiah was forced into becoming a test subject of the Alpha Omega Research Facility. Locked away alone for many years, his only interaction with others severely traumatizing, his mentality transformed into something less than human. Not only that, but he lost his wings and his sight in the experimentation, shrinking his world into a small, dark, desolate place.
The experiments on him were a bit too successful; the artificial magical abilities implanted in him increased to a dangerous level. Even with the chains that stifled his abilities, he could still cause considerable damage, and he was too unstable to be trusted. Since he was beyond hazardous to be handled at the Terror Asylum, he was thrown into the Abyss, forced to wander blindly through its dank alleys.
Nessiah still managed to survive. Perhaps it was because of his magic. Perhaps he still had a spark of determination to live. Perhaps he lived on because of his desire to bring vengeance on the facility that ruined his life forever. Whatever the reason, he still continues to lurk the Abyss, awaiting his chance to have his revenge.
Nessiah lives in a small makeshift workshop, where he spends his time creating and forging many objects, from beautiful jewelry to powerful weapons and artifacts. To supply this hobby he will often travel to the Junkyard for useful materials, and he will lock himself inside his workshop for hours or even days on end until he finishes a piece. The large golden book he carries stays with him always, as it was once his favorite book when he was a child, a small memento of his past life. Now he has changed it into something that can amplify his powers, so it seems to be nothing more than a tool. But since he refuses to part with it for a substitute, it must still mean something to him.
Sample journal posts: It's raining.
This is inconvenient. I must restock on my supplies. Who knows how much the rain will damage the materials if they are left out any longer?
Sample role-playing post: He didn't mind the rain. It soaked his clothes, making them heavy and weighing him down, and it made the streets even colder. Still, it was only a minor distraction. He had more important matters to focus on.
Such as the man in front of him.
Nessiah took a step forward, listening to the person's frantic and frightened heartbeat as he advanced. "Are you from Elysium?" he asked. "It's quite rare to see one of you in these alleys."
He raised his hand and let his fingers slip over his faceplate. "If you are from the facillity...I will have no choice but to kill you. I am not going back there."
