A/N: Founders AU - I’m sorry if I’ve murdered your characters… Although most of the ones I used are mine. Well, JKR’s. You know what I mean.
“Alecto, go to bed.”
“I shall not and don’t you dare think you have the right to tell me what to do,” she shot back at her brother, wielding her empty bottle of firewhiskey like a weapon. Rodolphus quickly plucked it from her hand, mistakenly believing it was still part full.
“Come on, it’s for your own good,” Amycus started ushering her towards the dormitories, managing to trap her on the staircase, “For Merlin’s sake, woman. You’re completely hammered.”
Alecto moved about halfway up the staircase and smirked at him, “You’ve just got your knickers in a twist because Rookwood rejected your Valentine’s offer.” After hours of her drunken taunts, Amycus was at the end of his tether. He launched himself at his older sister, his feet meeting a clean slope rather than steps. Howls of laughter broke out around the common room and he swore as he reached the bottom. His nose was gushing from an encounter with the stone banister. Alecto just sat down on the step to admire her handiwork.
Suresh’ voice sounded from the other end of the room, all sense of decorum lost with his sobriety, “Tom, go tell your woman to bugger off.”
“I’ll do nothing of the sort,” was the calm reply, though he slowly straightened out and crossed the room to his delinquent housemate who, by this time, was no longer amused. He beckoned for her to come back down the stairs, stepping over her brother as he tried to move out of the way. “Come here. I’m not calling up the stairs.” With an indignant sniff and a hint of a pout, she complied, stopping at the last step. “Alecto,” he beckoned again and she came down properly, pointedly keeping her eyes on the patch of blood on the floor. If she looked up she was either going to blush or hex one of her housemates.
Someone whispered something and Astoria started giggling in the background, though she was quickly silenced by Adelaide as she confiscated the girl’s drink for herself.
Ignoring all of them, Tom muttered something in Alecto’s ear and she flushed a deep red, promptly turning on her heel and leaving for her dormitory. As he returned to the merry party there was a moment’s silence, quickly followed by a cheer from all the men. No one bothered to ask how he managed that.
Adelaide and Astoria sat cheek-to-cheek, happily draining their firewhiskey through neon pink straws. “I don’t know what all the fuss is about,” Adele muttered, “What did they think she would do?” The blonde started giggling again.
