I watched an episode of Arrested Development on an airplane once. I don't know if I've ever seen such a dumb TV show

It's a brilliant show.

It takes a while to get into. One episode isn't really enough.

Dear James,

Arrested Development, though critical acclaim and emmy glory (6 of them) did rain down upon it from on high, was indeed cancelled.

The show had the potential to be our generation's Seinfeld, albeit drier. It was cancelled because it was too heady for most audiences, not because it was immature/lame.
