coa-fucking-chella

wow.

so this weekend rocked. saturday monkey called and said she got zak and i saturday tickets (THANK YOU), so we rushed our way out the door and got to coachella around 4ish. saturday was EXTREMELY crowded! we headed over to see beck. his stage was way too quiet so we left for death cab for cutie. i didn't realize it was the dude from the postal service, have to say, i like the postal service better.

we waited FOR-EV-ER for food and listened to the crap that is dessert sessionz. after eating and losing monkey and jeremy, zak and i headed to the front of the main stage for the pixies, well, as close as we could get. i enjoyed the pixies. i'd never heard anything other than the "where is my mind" song, but i was impressed. it was cool to hear that live at sunset. we tried to get to the front for radiohead, but there were WAY too many people with the same idea, so we struggled through to the back. people were nice about it though, i mean even though people were pushing to the front, one girl helped me get to zak through the crowd.

we walked around during radiohead and made our way back to this giant sculpture of a fallen chandeleer (sp?). it was our meet-up spot for the end of the night, so we tried to find monkey and jeremy. turns out they were there, but we never found them. radiohead was awesome, their lights were AMAZING. after radiohead we headed to the big tent for kraftwerk. *drools* omfg. so awesome. they came out behind a screen lit up with red light and their 4 black suited shadows behind. great visuals.

it was funny to watch confused people leave the tent, lol. it was so crowded though and no room to dance so we left kinda early and waited for everyone. after the long walk to meet noah and liz at the car, we headed to the hotel. we had to kinda wing it by dee's directions and the signs on the road. i guess they were lost too. eventually we found the place, smoked the hookah, and crashed. thanks for letting us stay guys!

sunday. woke up, had jack in the box, and headed out. monkey rode with us, i was glad, cause i didn't really see her saturday. zak and i decided we wanted to save up our energy for later in the day, so we headed to the front of the fence in the beer garden, set up a towel, drank some beer, and just laid in the sun pouring water on eachother. broken social science was talented and unique. monkey needs to burn me a cd, *hint, hint*. one of the dudes from the band proposed to his girlfriend, it was SO ADORABLE!!!

after that, monkey came back and i decided i needed to buy a bikini top, due to the HEAT. i got a blue rainbowy one and it helped a lot. we got up towards the front left side for atmosphere. again, another group i'd never heard but drooled over. i had fun dancing to hip hop and one girl even nudged me with her shoe to tell me i looked cute ^_^ thanks to coley and dee for the bowl, too!!!

monkey, zak, and i tried to catch the end of the thrills, but only heard the last song. then we went in the tent to see cooper temple clause. yet another band i'd never heard but impressed me. they were great. lot's of energy and it was something you could dance too. it was fun watching zak get all excited and dance along too = ^ ) next we went to adam freeland in the big tent. OMFG. it was SOOOOOOOO hot. it was exciting to see everyone dancing, not like at az raves where i feel like one of the only jackass' on the dancefloor. he had a visual on the projector that said "impeach bush". he played the "we want your soul" track, but no vocals. danced my ASS OFF in there. zak was right, he rocks it.

after adam freeland we headed our sweaty asses back to the chandeleer to catch air and meet up with monkey. AIR WAS ORGASMIC!!! i swear, they are pure sex. it had been so long since i'd listened to them and they played lots of songs i love. we walked around a bit during the end of their set. i got a chicken kabobb (SO YUM!) and monkey and zak got funnel cake. we then headed to the beer garden again to be close to the fence for the flaming lips.

after much technical difficulty, they finally came on stage. one of the guys came out in a GIGANTIC beach ball thing and just walked on the stage. since we were on the side, we got a great view, it was kick ass! i was dissapointed they didn't play "she don't use jelly" though.

then we made our way as close as possible for the cure. we stood there for an HOUR (they were 20 minutes late). i can't believe how people HAVE to smoke in such a large crowd, i couldn't stop laughing at the people holding their cigarettes up in the air.

we took some pictures as they hit the stage and then headed back a bit.

OMFG. when they played pictures of you i was literally close to tears. i couldn't believe i was hearing it live!!!!! hell, i still can't!!! the only thing that sucked was you could hear le tigre yelling in the backround. i wish i coulda seen le tigre and basement jaxx, but it was during the cure. they played, pictures of you, just like heaven, why can't i be you, lovesong, inbetween, lullaby, facination street, and a few others and closed with some song i'd never heard. monkey, zak, and i's jaw DROPPED when they walked off stage without having played close to me. but luckily they came back on and played close to me at EXACTLY midnight. i'm a dork, but that's awesome cause monday was zak and i's 2 month anniversary. ok, i'm an EXTREME dork, but it made me happy. they played boys don't cry, and even lovecats! robert was all "this is something i don't normally do, but i'm going to play it anyways!". oh god, i can die a happy woman now. the cure was amazing and by far my favourite of the whole weekend. i felt bad for monkey though cause we couldn't find jeremy before the cure. i'm sure she got sick of zak and i ;-) OH, and i'd like to add that it is so beautiful that robert smith says "thank you" after almost every song <3 <3 <3

i have to say that the cure, air, kraftwerk, radiohead, the pixies, and adam freeland were my favourites.

what a great weekend. sunday was definately better than saturday and i'm glad i went. zak and i were talking about how awesome the people were too. like the girl helping me through the crowd. people were so crowded leaving in a tip-toeing mass out of the show, but yet they were still light-hearted and joking and such. you'd never see that kind of niceness at warped tour or a fucking football game.

*edit* OH, chipboy were you at coachella?!?! i saw this dude walking around with a spatula up in the air and thought of you. i tried to take a picture, but he walked by too fast.
