Commenting after the second time reading this. I don't understand why you don't like this one, I happen to love it. The outsider-perspective on these things is always a fun ride, an interesting look at things we're already familiar with, and it works even more in this situation because Gotham and its citizens are so well fleshed-out. Your OC was exactly what they needed to be, no more, no less, and the fact that it's from their POV makes each appearance by a canon character more exciting.

The Joker's cameo at the end was almost touching, and I am not a Joker/Batman girl much. Really, I'd rather read a thoughtful, meaty gen story like this than five J/B slashfics filled with predictable hatesex.

Thanks! I purposely didn't name the reporter or give him/her a gender because I didn't really want the fic to be about him/her. I just wanted it to reshow Gotham through the misinterpreting eyes of a normal Gotham citizen, which I find really humorous for some reason...

(And a little secret... I'd be pretty unpopular if I just proclaimed this from the rooftops, I think, but I actually really really dislike the idea of the Joker and Batman being together in a romantic way. It may even border on hate. I think it oversimplifies their relationship. I find gen Joker/Batman interaction to be infinitely more interesting.)

Thank you yes!! I'm not saying there aren't any romantic/sexual undertones to it, but making their interaction ABOUT that just isn't as interesting. Oversimplified is exactly the word. I think Joker/Batman slash COULD be done well, in a way that does full justice to both characters, but it would have to be subtle and twisted.

Re: your OC: yes, that's exactly what I meant - they had enough character to carry the story along, but not so much that they intruded on the story.

Also, lol, this story sort of gave me a plotbunny (or conceptbunny, if you will) for a series of articles, op-ed pieces, etc., from the Gotham newspaper, done in full journalistic style. Lol...

Re: Joker/Batman slash: Yeah, probably, but I'm not going to wade through to find it. XD;; My biggest problem with the pairing is that I don't see the Joker as a very "sexual" being.. I feel like he would get more of a rise out of the chaos and violence he inspires in the movie than any other human being. *shrug* That's just the impression I got.

And, oohhh I'd want to read those if you wrote them. Send me a link if you ever post them. :]

Oh, I love this one, too. It is almost perfectly reasonable for the reporter to get just slightly off track. It's a very dry humor, and you work the pieces together quite well.
