SHUTDOWN

i'm on granholm's side. sure, the shutdown isn't good for the state, but niether is the one billion in cuts for public safety, schools, medicaid, etc that the opposition wants to fix the problem. can you handle a 4.6% income tax? if you make below 25,000 a year, which i'm sure most everyone reading this does, can you afford paying out an additional ( Read more... )

i've been following this pretty closely too. i hope they man up and raise taxes. although i think they all probably pay themselves too much and could cut spending from programs that aren't schools/social services i doubt that's going to happen by tomorrow. taxes are the best right now. i don't need money, anyway. i can just eat sticks or something. what i need is school.

i like the idea of including salons, country clubs, dry cleaners, etc into sales tax. i honestly think if they really want to solve the deficit, tax liquor more! as a smoker, i'm taxed out, but will take it if i have to.
