I just picked two nasturtium blossoms last night for a salad...the red-dark orangey colored one though.

I love nasturtiums! Mine is the varigated leaf variety and it comes in a variety of yellow, orange, apricot and copper blossom shades. Very pretty!

It's a lavender coloured lobelia. I meant to plant the nasturtiums with dark blue lobelias, I think the colour goes better with orange shades, but must have misread the label and they came out lilac. I am not quite used to it yet but can't bear to tear them out so it'll have to stay mis-matched. The yellow nasturtiums go quite well with that colour though.

Here's some photos of the lobelia:

well, aren't purple and orange complimentary colors? I think so. They go fine together! Seeds are often mislabeled for color--it happens! Add to that the hybridizing that goes on, and there you are--color fluctuations. Thanks for clarifying.

Lovely - we can't easily grow them here. For some reason they all get absolutely smothered in blackfly. My mother can grow them with no problems.
