OMG IS NOT 2013 A MARVELOUS TIME WITH THE ABILITY TO READ FIC ON SPEEDY PRIVATE DEVICES IN PUBLIC PLACES? Forget printing stuff out and obsessively erasing browser histories!!

I look forward with extreme anticipation to your longer comments, and yay, I'm glad you liked it!

This is perfect. Especially this paragraph:

"But it was true. He was always too rich to make her feel normal and too powerful to make her feel comfortable, too self-assured to give her space to consider him, too insecure to be generous, too quick to defend himself. He was too much of a lady-killer, too hung up on his mother, too flaky to be a good father, too damn irritating to even let her feel wistful about their broken down friendship. "

A thought process that I've tried to capture many times, never with the success you have here.

Thank you so much! I do think Liz (or anyone) could find a lot of problems with Jack in terms of the kind of guy you want to marry. But it's still my little hope that Liz would want to do it anyway.

It's been a really long time since I read fics about these two, and boy am I happy to do it now. This would have been the perfect ending. And it is, for now on, my headcanon! Thanks for sharing.

!!! new fic! thank you! !!!

I actually love the semi-non-linearity of this, how the details of their situation are filled in for us gradually. It's like the thrill I get when my eyes accidentally wander a few paragraphs ahead during a crucial scene in a book - but without as much guilt because after all, you wrote it that way. (And it works.)

"You fucked up my whole life," she said

OH LOOK. A sentiment that captures my feelings on this pairing exactly! Hahahaha... huhuhu... Seriously, though: ouch. That part got me. Especially her blind, angry insistence that Jack is not the right guy, he's the wrong guy, he's not the one for her. And yet... "Ah." Glad they got there in the end. :)

Thanks so much!! I'm glad if the structure worked, because it was sort of unplanned, but I tried to clean it up enough to keep things consistent. And I did want a kind of disbelieving, joyful-discovery feel to it, so I'm glad that came through for you!

I wrote those lines only intending them to refer to Jack's confession and her inability to handle her UTTER DEVOTION to him which the show is so blatant-but-coy about, but um, you are totally right that it could also speak to this whole relationship! It always bothered/stimulated me how the show makes them periodically declare that they've "ruined" each other and wish they'd never met (sobbing in the corner here), and the fact that Liz's rant echoes that is a COMPLETE accident, really, hahaha, or at least that didn't consciously occur to me during the writing. So thank you!!

And yep, they both just protest too much. MTB MFEO OTP4EVA

He didn't mention the new line of cake-batter flavored Doritos he'd launched six months earlier; she'd seen them at the grocery store and monologued for ten minutes to a terrified cashier about her principles, namely, not accepting apologies in the form of million-dollar-grossing snack food innovations, however genius.

UMMMM perfect. I actually laughed out loud at that, man. This fic is so wonderfully 30 Rock--makes me miss this show even more. This is awesome!
