That's really lame. You should wear slacks if you want to. As long as you're dressed nicely, they shouldn't have any reason to get you in trouble.

I got equally riled up when I got this letter in the mail:

Graduation attire. Girls: Tea-length white dresses--no short dresses. Also, girls are not permitted to wear pant suits. Girls need to wear slips. Boys: Blue blazers, white or khaki pants. Oxford blue shirt and red tie.

Not only should pants be avoided, but they are forbidden. And all the girls have to wear these long, virginal white dresses. It's really sick. The class pictures are kind of scary because everyone looks the same. I don't mind that much wearing a dress, but I do mind that some people don't want to. And I do mind look exactly like everyone else. And I do mind looking like I'm about to get married to whichever boy I get paired up with to march down to the lawn.

maybe we can move into some sort of restrictive cult which view women soley as the property of their husbands.

Let me say this thought: if they, for some reason, do not allow me to wear what I please, within the modest/nice range, then I will be forced to wear the only dress I own; 1970 knee length long sleeved inch-high-collar bright orange and floral print dress.

With shorts on underneath.

Same at my school, except we don't marry the boy (all girl's school, see) we marry the school, priest, mass, rings, flowers and all, or close enough. Paper white dresses that must have straps at least two inches in thickness, white shoes, and all pieces must be approved. ::gag::

of COURSE it's not the point. The point is that no one is going to see it!

our dress code does not forbid non skirt/dressness just strongly encourages against it.

Anyone who has been in the school system for 12 years knows that really, they have forbidden it. Anyways, they shouldn't even be ENCOURAGING it.

See, MD is a border state, so even though we never left, we still parade a CSA flag all over the place.
