I feel so disenchanted

I am so tired of school and just the way that life is. I don't see the point. We go to school so that we can get a piece of paper that tells us we can get a better job. At least that's what they want you to think. We're taught this illusion that just because we go to college we're going to get some incredible job that we'll love. Bullplop. Even if ( Read more... )

First off, I think Jer was absorbed by some alien when he commented... That doesn't sound like him.

Second, I know what you mean that society pressures us into believing that college is the path you are supposed to choose. It took me a long time to figure out, and I'm still figuring out that it's really just a scare people into trying to find the right thing for themselves type tactic. The only thing is, to function on a whole in society we have to do things in an organized fashion. This is their attempt at organizing.

As for the meaning of life... heh. I'm not so sure there is one. The fact that we can not verify our own existance makes it seem impossible to me that anyone could possibly say that there is a meaning to life. I occassionally think about such things and usually come to the conclusion that it doesn't fucking matter because it's up to me what I do with my life.

I doubt this actually "helps" or answers your questions, but it's something to reflect on.

Hey chris, my opinion on the subject of the meaning of life kinda has a little of what jer said in it (I know your just dying to hear my opinion, lol). I think the meaning of life is what you make of it. Like you said life is full of pain and suffering, but there is also the enjoyable fun times too. You can choose to dwell on the pains and sufferings and feel miserable, or you can choose to dwell on the good things and let the bad things just fall to the wayside. Sure, people die, hardships come, and important decisions come, but no one can expect you to just let these things go. Rather treat them as just a part of life and move on to the next good moment ( ... )

here are the real answers sweet_caitie_lu September 14 2005, 17:10:12 UTC
yes the answer is 42, but you don't have the right question my friend. The question is how many ways are there to enjoy life. While the answers will vary for each number, you'll eventually find there are 42 ways. Honestly Chris, you need to stop for a second and enjoy life around you. You're way too high strung. Maybe you should really breath for once or actually see the world. Its not all corruption and greed and destruction. Its tragically beautiful so to speak. Happiness...you're never gonna find until you find it in yourself. I've actually felt true happiness once. Its memory is the only thing that keeps me attached to anything in this world because I know I'm gonna feel it again. If you have it even for one moment, that is enough for the rest of your life. As for the second part, money, education, that has become a necessity. But education really does open your eyes, it doesn't matter what you major in, its the experience of gaining that knowledge and the experiences you have once you've gained it and how you apply it to the ( ... )
