A crisis, me?!

So if you haven't heard me complain about it already, I've once again lost my direction. I seriously think I am beginning to hate Psychology and wonder why I ever got into it to start with. Oh yeah, because I was in First Year College and my advisor called me one day and told me I had to pick a major. Some help she was. So on the spot I had to ( Read more... )

Chris...Heather pretty much said everything I planned to. Take me for example, I'm going to be doing day camps with little kids all summer at the ymca, do you think that has anything to do with agricultural business management? I'm trying to spend this summer more as a soul searching quest because I have no idea what I want to do in love or life. If you don't want to go to grad school then don't...if you do then go, but just give it some time and don't do anything rash. Your not in a crisis, your facing what all of us are facing right now, the coming of THE REAL WORLD!!!! Chris just look around you...you have me, jeremy, adam, heather, elene, david, and theo all going through the same thing. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad advisor in first year college, but once again as heather said you chose where your at and you stayed there, and I think you just need some time ( ... )

funny because i just had this gigantic talk with one of my instructors about how i'm totally disliking MY major as well. but as for you, i don't know, chris. i feel like i don't know you well enough to have a valid opinion, but i do know that it's totally normal to question what you want to do with your life. it's like getting cold feet before you graduate and make it official. but just to offer some words of comfort, if you do decide to continue and graduate with a degree in psychology, that does not necessarily mean that you need to get a job in that field. honestly. the fact of the matter is that you will have a degree and if your heart lies in other subjects then maybe apply for jobs in those areas. anyways, i hope i was SOMEWHAT of a help. if not, then sorry i suck. haha. so yeah - take care. you'll figure things out.

Yeah, so, this situation isn't so great. I don't know that you ever had direction before, but I'm not sure I've ever really had direction. People told me I should do electrical engineering, and it seemed like that would make them happy and be interesting, so here I am ( ... )

chris is definitely excited at the prospect of that job.

listen to elene. i think about half my responses to somewhat important things on livejournal begin that way, heh.

one of the main math department professors/advisors is a computer science major. he doesnt know any abstract algebra. he doesnt remember most of math from what i've gathered. he's in the math department.

Having a major, any major, and completing it matters. what exactly the major is... it can change things somewhat, but it's kinda secondary you know. Once you have one at all, there are a lot of things you can go do

not the job we came up with though. that one requires more biology, and a fair amount of mental stability i would imagine (not to say you lack the second...). you just see a lot of things no one really wants to look at.
