The Clone Wars: "Crisis on Naboo" (4.18)

Loved it. Aside from the usual things (seeing my headcanon on the screen!), I was impressed by the complexity of the plots and the creative use of kitchen utensils and furniture in the Anakin vs Dooku duel.

I confess it's the first episode I've watched this season. I read all the episode summaries and only watch when I can't not watch and have an ( Read more... )

I suppose you feel the same way about the prequels? I think you've mentioned it somewhere. We'll never agree. :P

I both liked this episode and was a little disappointed by it. The kidnapping plot was well-conceived and exciting, but after three episodes of build-up, it felt like it went by too quickly.

Also, the whole “Palpatine gets kidnapped, Anakin (and Obi-Wan) fight Dooku with Palpatine looking on and secretly cheering for Anakin to turn to the Dark Side” just seemed a bit too much like a rehash of RotS. Even though there were some small differences in the details, the overall dynamic was almost exactly the same. I wish they could have done more with it, like maybe let Dooku notice Palpatine's interest in Anakin and have a flash of suspicion, even if it didn't last.

Overall, I think it was a good (though not perfect) episode judged solely on its own merits, but the pacing of the arc as a whole could have been better.

I won't kill you for the Anakin/Padme comment. :) I don't agree with your interpretation, but I don't mind other interpretations existing alongside mine.

I remember from Dave Filoni's episode commentaries during S2 or S3 that whenever TCW imitates scenes from the movies, it's intentional. It's their way of paying homage to their favorite Star Wars scenes.

That is interesting about the running pattern -- neat point about the priorities. Palpatine is a born leader, it's just the destination that is questionable. Hey, that's a new plot bunny icon!!

Well said.

I need more plot bunny icons. This is getting ridiculous.
