Caramel Custard Pie, for pixink!

Pie!

Note: I used a different crust recipe than the one in the pie recipe, so I can't attest to the crust. I can however attest to the scrumptiousness of the filling!

The crust recipe I used:

Cook's Illustrated Foolproof Pie Crust2 1/2 cups (12 1/2 ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour ( Read more... )

I like that icon ... cooking-related nose-art. Kewl. Amanda (cissa) needs one of those.

Thanks, although I'm not entirely sure what "nose-art" is.

Nose-art was the 'racy' artwork painted on the nose of the WW-II aircraft. (You should be able to Google or Yahoo it for examples.)

I was looking at the icon you used for these posts and, with a bit of racier tweaking, would be perfect 'cooking' nose-art.

Oh, right--I'm familiar with the racy art on the noses of WW-II era aircraft--I guess I didn't know that it was called nose-art. You're right, that lady would fit on the nose of one of those planes!

....WOW.
I know a certain inhabitant of my household who is 1. Shameless about pie and 2. a huge fan of caramel. He is small and sticky generally and this would make him especially sticky but so worth it...

Hee! Actually, it is surprisingly not too sticky. It's light in texture and taste--which makes it extra yummy, because it's not too heavy and sticky, it's just smooth caramely custardy. Though I'm sure your certain someone would become sticky enough in the eating. :-)

Oh, yum! I am surprised the filling doesn't have egg in it. In my mind, this was a chess pie. I'll have to try it some time!

It has 2 eggs. Sorry, I need to make that more clear in the recipe. Will go do that now.
