So today I made a big effort to focus extra on Kidzilla, in the hopes that he will be less constantly demanding of attention if he gets periods of focused, concentrated attention. It'll probably take a few days... :) But I understand. I go through phases with Nick and it seems like the more time I spend, the more he wants sometimes. It's hard!

I think he still associates "play with me" with "outdoors", or certain specific activities. While greatly appreciated, I'm sure, the activities that you and he engaged in didn't fall under his definition of "play".

Keep going with it - I expect it will kick in for him after a bit.
