K and I were being lazy a bit this morning, and the phone kept ringing. Ring once, stop. Ring once, stop. The phone said "Salem City Of" and we were rather confused. Ring once, stop. Ring once, stop. Ring... ring ... it says City of Salem again, but this time it's still ringing, so I answered it

It's the SECOND time he's done it. The first time he was a little over a year old, and it was an accident. I took the phone from him to call my mom, so the dispatcher couldn't call back, so a police officer had to come check on us. And there I was standing there, holding the phone in one hand, staring dumbfounded at the cop, while my mom is laughing like crazy over the phone - both I and the policeman could hear her laughing. *siiiiiigh*!!

But I understand you. This is kinda funny when it happens to other people, but very annoying when it's your kid. And how do you talk to him and be sure he'll still call 911 when he really need to do so ? The joys of parenting... :)

We've tried to talk to him about the definition of an emergency -- fire, car crash, someone bleeding a lot, someone hitting their head and not waking up, etc. It hasn't really sunk in yet, though. Obviously!
