i can understand if some people here on livejournal just don't know how to credit icons. unfortunately, i don't happen to appreciate it when people come find my icons and take TONS of them without crediting.

i've come to a decision. my posts will from now on become FRIENDS ONLY so i can keep tabs on just who will be taking my

I think this may be for the best. If people don't know how to spend five seconds writing a username, what right do they have using the icons anyway?

And this doesn't make you a bitch. You're being pretty reasonable. After all, they are YOUR icons. You get to decide how they're used.

thanks for siding with me...i just hate that people can't even type a simple "made by ________" in the comments box. they don't even have to know the LJ User html code.

it just makes me believe that the people taking my icons and not crediting are inconsiderate and immature. i hate that it makes me see people like that.

You are being perfectly reasonable. It's totally understandable to want credit. You deserve it for the time and effort you've put in.

I've seen a lot of other icon makers have to do this, so you're not being unreasonable. If people can't follow very simple instructions, they don't deserve to use your icons. :)

More or less what everyone else said. You put effort into this so why should people just 'LOLOL' and take it without even giving name--credit is so people can go 'hey, I like that icon' and see where they got it to find more. I found an icon I liked (using it) but the person didn't credit and, judging by the wide variety of different icons on their page (none of which were credited) I highly doubted that they made it. So I still can't find the person who made it. And if you don't know, just put 'comment for credit' or something. Or if you don't know how to put the link, just c/p the username so it's SOMETHING, man. -headshake-
