If by 'dealt with' you mean calmly addressing Mr. Russett's concerns and accusations, whether they seem outrageous or even a little offensive, then yes, I agree.
We need to stop assuming that everyone's going to react to our medical practices in the same way. What's standard to some can be bewildering to others. I think also think that discussing Mr. Russett's opinions like they're a threat is the wrong way to go about this, as is cutting Mr. Russett out of the equation in order to worry about the impact this may or may not have on his inmate.
The accusations are clearly irrational, Martha. I know that accusations of this matter are hard for any good doctor to hear, but medicine and personal health can be a sensitive subject for some people, and sensitivity and rationality don't often walk hand-in-hand.
You're a good doctor. Best ignore him for now, develop a thick skin to this sort of thing - because it will happen again, that's just the nature of the job - and let the rest of us try and figure out how to mediate the situation.
