Personality:
Yuffie, while graceful, prim, daughter of royalty, etc, etc, etc... is very rude, cocky, and aggressive. She considers herself a tomboy. The daughter of Wutai's leader Godo Kisaragi, she is his complete opposite. She despises tradition and custom, and is rebellious towards the old-fashioned ways of Wutai, even though she wants to see restored to its once proud ways.
Yuffie grew up during the Wutai War, hearing the stories of how great Wutai once was. It was then that she decided to put the effort into restoring Wutai to that grandeur. Because of the war, and seeing Wutai turn into nothing but a tourist trap, Yuffie has an intense hatred for ShinRa, and has lost respect for her father because of it. He'd rather sit around all day than try and help restore Wutai, in her eyes. Even after reconciling with her father, she still thinks that the key to restoring Wutai lies with taking all the materia for herself. If it can better Wutai, she wants it.
Though she doesn't seem like it, Yuffie makes plans and keeps them. She makes an ideal of what she should be, and she tries to stick to it. She's firm and reliable, once you get past her exterior and become her friend. She's trustworthy [to a point], and very hard-headed. She puts forth that she's very strong, but she has a fragile and nervous side as well. Not to mention she's ridiculously stubborn. She also has an abundance of energy. Deep down, however, Yuffie just wants to be of use. She doesn't want to be treated like some little kid like she has for most of her life. It was one of the main reasons for becoming a Materia Hunter besides restoring Wutai. She didn't help Cloud and the others because they gave her a reason. She hardly knew them and still decided to help out.
She's quick to say what's on her mind, even if it's not the best thing to say. Yuffie has a habit of giving herself honorific titles, showing her prideful nature. Because of this, if you insult her pride, she's going to jump you. She's easily angered, and she will hurt you if necessary. On the other hand, she can be extremely happy as well. She's quick to feel insulted or injured. She can be the most loyal of friends, or she can be the worst of enemies. Once you earn her trust, you've got a friend for life.
She may seem like she's only out for herself at first [which she probably is], but in the end, there is no one better you'd want on your side than the great Yuffie Kisaragi.
Background:
The legendary ninja Yuffie Kisaragi was born in Wutai to Godo Kisaragi, Lord of Wutai and head of the Pagoda. Yuffie's Mother died at a young age due to an unknown sickness, so the little princess was unfortunately raised by her father and his four advisers. We all see how that turned out.
Pride in her homeland is what drives Yuffie. When the Wutai War started, Yuffie took it upon herself to save Wutai. She couldn't save Wutai through conventional means, so an unsuspecting SOLDIER became her target: Zack Fair. After a fight to the "death" [which he let her win, no matter what she says], she began sending him anonymous text messages, asking him to go out and search for treasure. Each time he found it, she'd be there to snatch it from him for herself. It was all for the restoration of Wutai, after all. Even with her striving so hard to prevent it, Wutai lost the war, and her beloved homeland was turned into a tourist trap. Materia was banned, and she watched her father all everything. It made her so angry to see this, and she vowed to restore Wutai to its former glory. In the end, she left her homeland for greener [and richer] pastures.
Several years went on, Yuffie travelling the world acquiring [ie:stealing] as much materia and gil as she could. It seems that it was fate that she met up with Cloud Strife and the other members of AVALANCHE. They were the only ones to best her in her battle, and she agreed to join with them [Thinking back, Yuffie thinks he might have had one too many hits with the buster sword.] With a bit of egging on, Yuffie lead her newfound friends toward Wutai. She had found out that her new companions had the sweetest materia ever, so where better to steal it than her homeland! She knew that island inside and out. With a [not planned] distraction from Shinra soldiers, Yuffie took the materia and ran.
AVALANCHE chased after her, finding her no matter where she hid. Letting them believe she gave up, Yuffie led Cloud and the others down to the basement of her home. All they had to do was hit one lever and they'd get their materia back. It ended up with them inside a cage, Yuffie outside, and the materia still in her possession. Just when she thought she was safe, Don Corneo happened. She, along with Elena of the Turks, had been kidnapped by the perverted man to be his future wives. Much to her surprise, Cloud and the others fought for her freedom. The Turks helped out in the end too, and that was the last time anyone ever saw Don Corneo. She also gave the materia back, much to her dismay.
Her nest task however, was a daunting one. To prove her worth as the true heir to the Wutai throne, Yuffie must go through and defeat a boss on each level of the Pagoda of the Five Gods. As it turns out, her father is the last of these battles. She must go through these all alone, without the help of her friends. As they watch on, she defeats each boss one by one, and finally overcomes her father. She wins respect from her father, and the Leviathan summon. She rejoins AVALANCHE to help them with her goal.
Along their journey, it seemed like one setback after another. First, it was the death of Aerith at the hands of Sephiroth. Next it was Sephiroth getting the Black Materia and summoning Meteor, Cloud falling into the Lifestream, the WEAPONS awakening to the threat of planetary destruction. After taking time to remember what exactly they're fighting for, AVALANCHE comes back together and takes on the Northern Crater, and at the center, Sephiroth. They manage to defeat the ex-SOLDIER, just in time to see Meteor crack the atmosphere. Yuffie and one of her friends, Vincent Valentine, go to Midgar to evacuate. They barely make it out in time, even with her saving him. In the end, it's Aerith's Holy and the Lifestream itself that saved the planet.
Three years pass. AVALANCHE disbands. Yuffie tries to make sure everyone stays in touch, but even she needs to move along. She returns to Wutai to help rebuild. It was also around this time that Geostigma begins to spread, and initially, her own people believe she's to blame for the "Midgar Illness" that spread to the island. Her father quarantines her, along with the others that are sick with the stigma. Her childhood friend Yuri helps her escape, and they head to the Materia caves that are south of the village. It's there that a black watery substance overwhelms them, infecting Yuri. With Red XIII's help, Yuffie's able to bring Yuri back to Wutai. Yuffie has no choice but to leave and try to find a cure.
While out looking, Yuffie finds out that the children of Wutai had gone missing. She calls Cloud to see if he's found out anything, but like always, she can never get ahold of him. She gets ahold of Cid, another friend of hers and formerly of AVALANCHE as well, and she gets a ride to Edge where they find everyone in the midst of battle. She parachutes right in, and helps in the fight against the Bahamut SIN summon. They all watch as Cloud battles the Remnants, near replicas of Sephiroth. One of them, Kadaj, manages to turn into Sephiroth. They watch on as Cloud defeats Sephiroth yet again, and they manage to find a cure for the Geostigma. Everyone was able to return to their lives after that. Though she may have bugged her friends a little too much.
A year later finds Yuffie as head of Espionage and Intelligence Gathering at the WRO - The World Regenesis Organization. Headed by Reeve Tuesti, another former AVALANCHE member, they try to restore the planet from when Shinra nearly destoryed it. Yuffie and the WRO also fight against Deepground, which was a top-secret branch of SOLDIER created by Shinra. She is the one who rescues Vincent from Rosso the Crimson in the Shinra mansion and takes him back to the WRO Headquarters, as well as leads the troops from the airships in the Battle of Midgar to shut down the generators inside the Shinra Building. Yuffie and other AVALANCHE members also aid Vincent in destroying Omega WEAPON.
Abilities/Additional Notes: Yuffie is a horrible kleptomaniac. If there's materia involved, it's automatically hers. [It's all for the glory of Wutai, really.] She is able to wield giant-sized Shurikens which act like boomerangs, and has a variety of limit breaks at her disposal. She also has various ninja abilities, like incredible balance, running up walls, landing perfect landings. And she's a horrible klutz, suffers from motion sickness, and has an obsession with Materia.

Her weapon of choice is called Conformer, her ultimate weapon, and has 8 materia slots at its disposal. She is also equipped with a Chocobracer, which adds to her dexterity and luck. It has materia slots for 4, which brings her total material to 12. She keeps 10 in the slots.

Added Effect / Support / Equips onto a weapon to a paired materia to added that effect to the weapon, and also makes the wearer immune to that status. [She links it with Poison.]
She also keeps the Leviathan Summon Materia on her, but she doesn't use it. She won it from her father after defeating him in the Pagoda of Five Mighty Gods. It's more for sentimental reasons.

Guys, this isn't funny! I really didn't mean to take the materia... [She pauses, then sighs.] ...again. You know how I am. I can't help it! But it's not fair to send me to some weird place! You didn't get that mad at me last time! This is totally not called for! Get me outta here!
Sample RP:
Yuffie leaned over, head between her legs. Oh, she hated airships. Serves her right, she had heard, for trying to steal everyone's materia. It wasn't her fault that her teammates, now friends, had the best materia around! She just needed it for a little while, to add to her growing materia collection, and to bring Wutai back to its original glory! At least she gave it back!
The airship lurched, and she could feel the contents of her stomach threatening to come up. Why did she have to eat a big breakfast this morning? She knew she was coming onboard! And with Cid's crazy driving - Yuffie closed her eyes again. "Breathe. No ninja gets airsick!" The airship lurched again, and this time, Yuffie landed on her butt.
"Aww, come on! Drive better, old man!" The great super-ninja crawled up onto her hands and knees, leaned over the railing she was near, and emptied the contents of her stomach onto the lower deck. Serves Cid right, taking all of his turns at breakneck speed! Really. How did Cloud not throw up all the time? She'd have to beat the secret out of him the next time he came back around her. Until then, she was going to hang onto the railing for dear life and hope that Cid learned to pilot better.
