see here Personality:
A bright and optimistic teenage girl from tiny Twinleaf Town who is currently traveling through Sinnoh trying to collect all the gym badges, Dawn has a gentle and kind nature; she's very friendly and open to everyone she meets, although she may come across as a bit childish at times, especially when she persists in trying to think the best of everyone. It's with this personality that even the most aloof Pokemon that she catches gradually warms to her; winning them over with time as they share battles and adventures together, she slowly forms close bonds with her team, the closest being with her first Pokemon, Piplup, who has now evolved into Empoleon.
A key factor of Dawn's personality is that she wants to do what's right - when she sees someone in trouble, her automatic response, whether they be human or Pokemon. She doesn't do it in the hope that she'll be rewarded or recognized for her deeds (although it would be nice, she has to admit) but because she holds an almost childlike and ridiculously naïve belief that everyone should help one another to the best of their ability; prioritizing others before herself. She doesn't really think of the danger or harm to herself when she immediately agrees to a little girl begging for Dawn to free her father who'd been taken hostage by Team Galactic. In fact, she doesn't even need to be asked, such as when she was simply passing by, noticing two Galactic thugs trying to extort honey from a single man, and immediately jumped in to defend him.
Unfortunately her naivety means she has a hard time detecting any ulterior motives. In a small, sleepy town such as Twinleaf where everyone knows one another, it's hard for Dawn to be suspicious and cautious of strangers. Always going out of her way to stop and talk to anyone on her journey, she fails to recognize Cyrus as a suspicious character despite running into him several times where he would depart after saying something ominous. Shrugging him off and classifying him as simply being 'weird' before continuing on her journey, it was a complete shock to her when she snuck into Team Galactic's HQ and discovered that their leader was none other than Cyrus himself.
Fortunately, she isn't a complete and total idiot - just, it seems, when it comes to judging character - having been skillful enough in battle to earn six of the needed eight badges. Of course, that could also be attributed to her own stubbornness. Whenever she suffers defeat, she refuses to be discouraged and, after some training and sometimes reshuffling of her team, is soon back on her feet, ready to challenge the gym leader or trainer again.
Another quirk of Dawn is her rather enthusiastic interest in Pokemon - whenever she sees a strange or unknown creature to her, Dawn's first reaction is to try and attempt to catch it. However, despite that, Pokemon are everything to her - friends, family, partners, and companions. She values them as much as her human friends, even if she does cram them in tiny little balls and force them to battle, but that's beside the point.
Dawn is also rather behind when it comes to relationships. Growing up in sleepy Twinleaf Town, the closest person her age had been her childhood friend, Barry, and she views him just as that; no romantic feelings or thoughts have ever crossed her mind about him or about anyone else in the town. And when she'd begun her journey, with the world unfolding before her very feet, she simply hasn't time to stop and consider such possibilities since it's never really occurred to her yet. She has no problems making friends - she's all too willing to barge into a stranger's home in the middle of nowhere and chat with them (and occasionally rest and heal up in their bed, if they'd allow). It's taking it to the next level that's the challenge.
A veil of innocence seems to hang around Dawn, a sort of childish and shining belief that the world and people around her are all wonderful.
Extra:
Character Abilities: None herself, but Empoleon is capable performing of high-pressure water attacks and he's strong enough that he can break ice floes with his metal-tipped wings. Also incapable of going through airport security.
Possessions: Her duffel, which carries an alternate outfit (her winter clothes), the Poketch on her wrist (a clock, pedometer, counter, calculator, doodle pad, and much much more all rolled into one!), and her Pokedex. No potions or revives though,
she's out.

HELLO! MY NAME IS DAWN AND-- O-oh, am I being too loud? Ah... I, I'm sorry, I didn't realize, um-- [ Her apology is interrupted by a sneeze and a quick sniffle. ] A-ah, sorry about that, it's um, kind of c-c-cold here...
...Which is something that I'd like to know. Where is here exactly? I-it doesn't look like anything like Lake Valor... Especially with all this snow around. It's impossible actually, since it's not that far north for it to actually snow...
Um. So... Can anyone tell me where am I?
Log/Prose sample:
She hadn't been able to do anything.
Even though she'd tried her best, she arrived too late - they'd already captured the Pokemon of the lake when she arrived. Even though she defeated the commander in charge of this operation, it'd been useless - the battle had been just to stall her, so they could whisk the captured Azelf out from under her nose while she was distracted--
Her foot bumped into something embedded in the mud; stopping in surprise, she glanced down. It looked like the corner of a box - a music box, she found out after digging it out of the mud. Calling out Empoleon to wash the mud off the box and her hands, she examined it curiously. No one lived near here, although she supposed it could be someone throwing away their trash...
But it didn't look broken. There was a small wind up key on its side; winding it up, Dawn opened the box, Empoleon looming over her shoulder as it eyed the object his trainer held in her hands.
The melody tinkling out, Dawn wondered why someone had thrown the music box in the lake - it wasn't broken at all. But only for a moment, as both her and her pokemon were completely enraptured by the melody. Before her eyes she could see the stories her mother used to read to her as a little girl, of knights and princesses, evil queens and good fairies; all of them dancing with each other, enacting their role in the story. She felt as if she could touch them, if she'd just reached out like so--
Her hand touched nothing but air as the last few notes of the melody hung in the air, before fading away. Glancing around bewildering, she realized that she now stood in a enormous hall, which was impossible. She'd been standing in the middle of a drained lake only a few seconds ago - she still had mud on her boots and Dawn knew there wasn't a building like this near the lake. But there was no trail of muddy footprints to show her how she could have wandered in here, the floor around her shining and pristine. The only familiar thing was Empoleon standing behind her, who look just as bewildered as she was.
"Wh... What's going on?"
Her confused question echoed to the very rafters of the hall.
