Charleston?

Barbara just e-mailed me wanting to know if I'd like to go to Charleston with her in February for some gym conference with Tracie Long. I can't believe she's actually considering it, but then again, they are offering a $200 voucher toward airfare. I looked on my schedule, and it's February 5th-8th, which runs from a Thursday through Sunday. I ( Read more... )

Well, Charleston's lovely, but you don't want to wear yourself out mid-semester. =)

I just found out 5 minutes ago that it's $999.99 to attend, which includes meals and lodging, but still, that's insane! I just about choked on my food.

If I want to skip a couple days of classes, I think I'll stay home and play hooky. ;)

Umm, yeah, that's a bit much.

Stay home, play hooky, read a book about Charleston or something.

Much less taxing all around. =)

Charleston is a lovely lovely town but gosh... $999.99?! That's expensive.

haha, I second the idea about reading a book about Charleston! You could get a nice book full of pictures... and drink sweet tea.. you could close your eyes and imagine you were there - and save yourself the exhaustion!

Yeah, I liked lyrical_nights' idea, too. :)

Too bad the conference costs $1K. If it were just airfare (w/ $200 off) and 3 nights in a Best Western, I was thinking I could have a cheap vacation. So much for that! ;)

Barbara can go without me.

Maybe that's something you can plan for another time - a cheap airfare weekend and a few nights in a hotel... maybe you could even find a cute little bed & breakfast... and explore the city on your own time. =)

It's a great town, I've always really enjoyed going there. So much history!

I've never flown there - it's about five hours from me so we've always driven.. but it's a looooong boring drive. (I don't live near the coast, I'm on the opposite end of the state. Bah! I wish I were closer to the water.) hehe

It's delicious! Did you see the quote from it that I posted a little while back? I laughed out loud when I read it and got some dirty looks from the fellow library patrons.

There were a lot of lines I underlined. I'm halfway down page 3 now, and I guess I had better stop. The nice thing about the response papers is that she doesn't wish us to have an opening or closing paragraph. Good enough.

I couldn't help but sneak a Miss & Mrs. Bates in. I happen to know she's a major Jane Austen fan. :) There was a reference to gossip being only suitable to old maids and widows, so that reminded me Emma.
