Today is the first I've seen of them. Until yesterday, I wasn't even aware they were out, which just goes to show how I've been living in a cave lately

I have seen exactly 0 of those. But, I do have the books for two of them sitting on my shelves- also unread.
But, I've seen every kids movie that has come to our local theatre since June.
You just might see even less with a little one. I missed nearly everything that has come out from 1995 through 2002 or so. Maybe 1 or 2 a year. It's getting better now since we have a babysitter nearby.
So you saw Finding Nemo then? :) I loved that one.
Your books are Cold Mountain and House of Sand and Fog? (Could be Master & Commander, I suppose.) I rarely just give up on a book, but CM was excrutiatingly dull. I have HSF on my shelves, but I've never actually read it.
We've already worked out a plan for movie watching. One sees the movie while the other and baby stay home, then switch places. Actually, I think I may have gotten that idea from YaYas or VF. It eliminates the need for a babysitter. :) People bringing babies and little kids to adult movies in the evening is one of my biggest pet peeves. There was a baby crying through Schindler's List, and when I saw The Ring, a horror movie that came out a couple years ago, there were two toddlers in the audience, both of whom were very upset. *sigh

For 1 time a month, the switch off should work. The thing is, that you get to see less of your spouse too, and you just end up hating giving up time togehter. It all depends though.
Well- tell me when you hear of any screeings for an Alan movie. I'll be right there.
We're being realistic; I think once a month is about the most we can expect in the future (we go about twice a month now). I'll have to rely even more on Netflix.
Please tell me I won't have to buy Teletubbies or Barney stuff in the future. Sesame Street is fine, but please not ugly purple dinosaurs! ;)
Hmm, I know you saw ROTK at least. What I did on years where I was far behind was not bothering to catch up . . . I just picked out one or two highly-nominated movies. I think Lost and Translation might do well judging by wins in several categories at the Golden Globes.
Master & Commander is the only Best Picture nominee I haven't seen. I'm really surprised it got nominated. I had hoped it would return to more theatres (they often do when nominations come out), but so far, the closest one is 20 miles away. Unless they expand this weekend, I think I'm going to have to make a weekend matinee trip.
Yeah, the only ones in the best pic category that I've seen are ROTK and Seabiscuit. I think Lost in Translation is still in theaters around here and since that's the one I want to see the most out of the other noms, hopefully I'll get to see it before the Oscars.
I was quite surprised with the M&C nom for Best Picture as well. I haven't seen it, but it didn't seem like a Best Pic to me...maybe I should see it so I can revise my opinions...
I'm pretty rabid in seeing as many nominated films as possible for the same reason, and I'm also way behind. I've been going on renting binges to catch up!
I'm surprised by a lot of the nominations--it doesn't seem like there's a really clear front runner this year in any category (except maybe Lord of the Rings) & I thought a lot of nominations were just completely out of left field. Makes it interesting, though!
Cold Mountain was exellent, but of course the book was better...Tell me what you think HoSaF. I loved the book, and can't wait til the movie comes out here.
