Head Cold from Hell
I've had this head cold for nearly a week now; the height of my misery was Sunday. DH urged me to stay in bed all day Monday (I had the holiday off) and to drown myself in fluids. I had to blow my nose every 5 minutes during the day, but the nights were the worst. As soon as I was no longer upright, my sinuses clogged up, and I couldn't sleep for the life of me. To make matters worse, there are very few drugs that I am allowed to use. I kept downing water and OJ, but in the end, I just had to wait it out. I'm feeling much better now. I'm still sniffly, but at least I can breathe. I was going to have to skip last night's Yoga class if I hadn't been feeling better. My sinuses ached just thinking about DDs and standing forward bends.
The House
The house is ours at last! It closed without incident yesterday. DH had to call to bitch out Bank of America daily for nearly a week before they finally broke down and released all holds (3 weeks was insane).
The movers arrive on the morning of Saturday, March 6th. We're driving Nikita over first, and I'll stay with her in one of the bedrooms that is not having boxes moved into it until the movers finish with their business. My poor baby is going to be so stressed out.
Car Troubles
The last thing we needed on top of all this year's extra expenses is to replace our car, but it looks like it's not going to last more than a few more months. The mechanic wants over $1,000 to fix the problem, and the car probably isn't even worth that much as a trade-in.
I've spent quite a few hours researching cars this week. My top choice so far is the Toyota Prius - it's a mid-size sedan with high marks for safety and reliability - not to mention it's #1 for fuel efficiency and low emissions. This hybrid gets a whopping 60 miles per gallon in city driving!!
DH's top choice so far is the Honda Accord. He's concerned about the Prius' slow acceleration (its only negative). It's a small trade-off to me for something that gets 3 times the mileage. That and he's more interested in a car that's a couple years used. Accords are a dime a dozen; a search uncovered dozens of them at nearby dealerships. Whereas we'd probably have to order a Prius new. There are no used Priuses within 50 miles of here, and only one new one (2003 model year).
Movies
Well, yet another weekend passed with no trip to the movie theatre. I only have 3 more weekend days before the Oscars. Things have been very busy around here, so we only saw one Netflix DVD all week as week: The King of Comedy, a 1983 Scorsese film starring DeNiro that we'd never seen.
Workouts
After weeks of laziness, I finally got in a good amount of activity this week. I've been spending a couple hours a day cleaning and packing/moving boxes in preparation for the move. Yoga class last night was pure bliss. When Jo had the class move into a sequence that alternated Downward Dog with Chaturanga, I felt her tap me on the back to stay down in Child's Pose until they were finished. I really can't stand Chaturanga, so I was secretly delighted.
