Job offer

I received a job offer that I really can't afford to pass up.

How do you "break up" with the current job you have worked for 5 years? What's the tactful way of putting in a two weeks notice?

I would type up a resignation letter and have a meeting with your supervisor. Stress that they have treated you wonderful and you hate to leave - but in this economy and whatnot I think people are pretty understanding about it. I wouldn't go into too many details about the new job or apolgise for leaving (you have every right to). I think people only get mad if they feel like they were left high and dry so state that you will happily work two weeks so they can find a replacement. (sometimes they don't want you to work the 2 weeks but sometimes they do). Good Luck! And congrats with the new job!!
