my past few months

A lot has been happening in my life, and I wish I updated my LJ more, to capture moments to remember later on. I had a lot I wanted to write about in this entry, but I'll let most of the pictures do the talking.

During Spring Quarter, I helped campaign for the Students First! slate for student government. I went around campus flyering and talking to strangers, trying to convince them to vote. It was frustrating to get those people who just won't vote because they're "too busy". In all honesty, it takes a few clicks of the mouse to vote. Also, if you want to find out about the candidates, there were plenty of people on campus who were willing to walk with you to class to talk about what the candidates were fighting for. Most of the people who did this to me were Chinese or Taiwanese. Just pisses me off how weak my community is at voting. If we don't vote in something as small as student government elections, what the hell are we going to do when voting for senators, presidents, and all that jazz? We need a voice in politics, and we're not doing ourselves any favors by not voting, thinking things are fine for us now.

Near the end of Spring quarter, I ran for the Chinese American Culture Night producer for the org I am in. I'm planning to do big things with this show. Some have felt that it's a chance to inspire the 2000 people who go to see ths show. I think there's much more to it. It's being able to inspire those 2000 people, and being able to let everyone involved in the show experience what it means to be Chinese American. I don't wanna blab about this too much. Just know this is what is going to consume most of my Fall and Winter quarter, and ANY help will be much appreciated.

Fourth of July was fun. Chalita invited us to her place in Marina del Ray. Venice beach is pretty damn nice.

The fireworks were soooo close to us..Crazy...

I served on a jury for 5 whole days. Even though it was a long process, I'm glad i did it. It was a good experience and I felt like i Served my civic duty. PLUS i got paid EIGHTY DOLLARS! (although I did miss a day of work so I lost 80 dollars there..)

Two weekends ago, I went to the UCSA(UC student's association) conference in San Diego. It was a 4 day conference where student delegations from UC's all over, came to decide what kinda issues campuses should tackle during the year. It was pretty cool because we all participated as a student congress. There were lots of workshops that I found useful, even to everyday life. Most importantly, I thought it was great to meet new people and hear some new perspectives.

Here are some of the people I got to meet/get to know better.

studying for LSAT's suck. Two classes a week. 4 hours each. Studying this stuff makes me realize how fucked up the system is. If you don't have money to go to a lsat course, you're pretty screwed, with some exceptions of course.

I've been going to Lion Dance practice. It's really interesting and is a pretty good workout.

Finally...have you seen the new YanYan cookies? They're hilarious. THey have "fun lines" on them now. =)
