Was out to visit the folks last night and Dad's doc said his latest blood work was looking good. I asked if I would be ok to book my holiday and was told to get on it.

I did breath a little easier after that news.

I haven't booked the flight yet, I will in the next week though. I already have it scoped out with a good cancellation policy. :)

Earlier this year, I had someone accuse me of being pessimistic when I stated that there are young adults in our parish who have little to no desire to attend Mass -or- church functions. I'm not sure it's pessimistic when it's true; I have a friend who is a praishoner but only attends Mass for her own Wedding and to have her kids baptized, etc. I still remember 10 years ago when she bragged about spending Sundays at Our Lady of the (bed) Springs. *chuckles*

I like to think of myself as a realist. I like to be optimistic, but mindful that things aren't always fine and dandy. I don't like the eternal pessimist who always thinks everything is awful; similarly, I dislike the eternal optimist who will tell you everything is fine when it's not.

¶ On a separate note, congratulations on the Table Topic Award. Thinking on one's feet is always a challenge. Take pride in knowing that one that given night, you did so and did it well enough that your peers chose to recognize you for it.

I agree. I try to be upbeat, though. I believe it helps with my mental health.
