Nutritionist

Part of my attempt to improve my health has been to look for a nutritionist to help me assess my food intake. I'm convinced there is something off about my mineral and vitamin levels because my hair is falling out by the handful.

I did some searching on the net, and it appears bulimia has an impact on your hair and can cause it to fall out. You likely already knew that though. I think the best thing you could do is see your doctor about the problem and have him refer you to a professional. From what I've read, it can take years for your body (and hair) to recover from the damage done to your body. One lady who wrote an article said it took her hair about six years to return to what it previously was.

I concur with a lot of what Sunshine said. Also, your general practitioner can run bloodwork to check how your levels are in terms of vitamins, etc. They can work on any dire corrections that might be required and refer you out to a dietician - in theory. I say in theory because I know the American health care system and not the Canadian. I do know that general doctors in both can at least do the bloodwork.
