I hate having to stop beside the road. Just for that reason.
It doesn't take much to slow down a bit and/or move over...
One thing they are planning on doing here in Oz is make probationary drivers take a safety driving course... learning how the car reacts in the wet, emgergency breaking etc. Most drivers have a hyped up sense of their own abilities in drivng... courses like this show them how wrong they can be... (in Oz we have a three step learning process. At 16 you get your Learners, where you can only drive if a licensed driver is with you. The second step is Probationary at the age of 18, where you can drive by yourself but you must have a zero percent alcohol level and certain fines can mean you being banned from driving for a year or so (alcohol is an automatic ban). Then after that at the age of 21 you can get your full license and you get like 7 penalty points. If you get too many fines and all the penalty points are gone, then you lose your license for a while.)
They have something similar here now. You can begin taking drivers education at 14/15, you can get your permit at 15/16 and you can drive with a parent for 1 year. After that first year you can drive by yourself after 5am and until 9pm. After that year, or if you're 18, you can take the official test and get your license. But it's still like "omg people suck!"
