A victory for the forces of good today.  My parents went to court for their hearing.  As we had thought, it was the school who called CPS on A, and the school social worker and the principal were there to testify against my parents.  My mother was appalled.  I haven't gotten the full details yet, but she said, "If I was the person that they ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry that your parents had to go through that, but glad that they got the right decision.

It can be very hard to accept that for whatever reason a family member needs residential treatment rather than being cared for at home, but I'm glad to hear that they've accepted it, and hope that she's soon making progress.

Thank goodness the court decided this way, whatever the motivation. The next part is starting now, and looks just as hard as the last part, but in a different way.

Is there anything your sister likes particularly that you could bring her in to distract her? Something like tv-programme dvds, or a longish series of books for her to get through, or some kind of craft to make?

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, on the inpatient psych ward, they are very strict. She can't have her notebook that she draws in, she can't have pens or pencils, she can't have her ipod...so all of the little things that actually help her are forbidden out of safety concerns. She can only have two five-minute phone calls a day. When she gets to the residential program, it will be a different story.
