Disclaimer: This will be a SUPER long update, and the reason I remember so many details, is because i wrote it all down everyday, so yeah, DEAL WITH IT
Alas, here is my update on New York City, condensed as much as possible, but its still long
ok, so Monday- we headed off to New york City! I rode in the Hulk, it was a good time.
We stopped at a ghetto Wendy's, the ROOF WAS YELLOW! I'd never seen a yellow wendy's roof! it was amazing! It was so ghetto! and, I threw a grape at Amanda, and we had a grapeish fight, it was funny. And all through the trip when we saw Road workers Daniel would be like "Dave Digman!" because a guy at our church is a road worker, it was funny. Good times in the hulk.
So we got there, unpacked and such, and went to burger king for dinner, where we saw a silly girl dancin her heart out in the parkin lot, it was great.
Flushing has a high population of asian people, it was so cool. So then we went to the park near the place we were staying at and it was cool. Me, Elissa, Paige, and Lacie all hopped on this Bear thing, and a russian guy took our picture, it was great
That was Monday.
Wow, this is gonna be a long update. Tuesday Morning we worked at the house and in the afternoon We did the step van, which is where Street life sets up a van, and we handed out soup and lemonade and stuff for people. We also handed out Clothing and Care Kits with basic stuf like Toothbrushes, etc. We also got to walk around the park, which was really nice. There was a guy playing chess, and Alex played him, and lost lol. We got to talk this cute old couple, they were the cutest things ever! aww i Loved them! and the lady all hugged and kissed us before we left. And there was this cute lil polish lady, aww. My heart broke inside and just went out for these people, if they wouldve asked me for anything i had, i wouldve given it to them. Me and Elissa had some good walkin and talkin in the park too, and watching the dog park haha. good stuff. Oh and Me and Sarah had a water fight when we were helping with dishes, and I called her Meghan, before realizing i was calling her me hahaha, good stuff. Then we went to dinner at a diner, and Elissa outsmarted Pastor Greg, pretty much the greatest thing lol. That night Paige and Elissa where rhyming of the walls......and then Amanda goes, "Stop rhyming and i Mean it! Does anybody want a peanut?" AHAHAHA! so funny! Then they played the "....And Pita" game, and that was funny.
Wednesday- was our free day for sightseeing and such. We rode the subways, Went to Times Sqaure, which was awesome. Then we went to Toys R Us, for like at least an hour haha. It was fun tho, we found a book called "Dos and Don'ts of Underwear" hahaha, it was so funny. Then we went to Rockefeller Center ( i think that was next?) and that was really cool. Got lunch, then headed to GERSHWIN THEATER WHERE WICKED WAS PLAYING! and went in, sat down, and saw the most amazing musical to hit broadway ever. Haha, i didnt think I'd be this emotional, but like everything made me cry. When it started i teared up, when elphaba walked on stage i cried, at like almost every song i cried, and at Intermission i sat there in stunned silence. It was AMAZING. Then after that we went to a Nazarene Church there, The Statue of Liberty, and Ground Zero. Ground Zero was wow. After that we went to Chinatown/Little Italy and did some shoppin, then had dinner at Grand Central Station. hahaha, and Elissa did something on the subway, and it was hilarious. haha, but i wont say it here. Oh, and We J walked in NYC, in traffic, and survived
. But all in all, a good day
. PS- Amanda Cash was my hero that day
Thursday- we headed off to a soup Kitchen Called Love Gospel. It was reallly neat. Some of our group got to lead worship and sing songs and stuff. That was really cool, I loved doing that and seeing people enjoy it. Then we got to walk around and talk to people and pray with them, that was even cooler. Each person i prayed with ( i wont list each thing, or i'll be here forever) I felt such a love in my heart for.I teared up everytime, it was so crazy. Then after the soup kitchen was done,we went out back onto a street they closed off and played with all these kids for a couple hours. That was a blessing in itself. One little boy named Angel, was such a cutie, he played this cap game that he made up, and alot of our group got playing it at different times with us, even though he totally made up the rules as he went, it was adorable. And then these two kids, a boy adn girl, were pullin me everywhere, it was a good time. And a girl came up to me and read me her favorite bible verse, that touched me so much. God used so many aspects of that day to minister to me beyond anything i could imagine. Haha ok so what funny things happened? ahaha, when daniel Discovered where my bed was and how he kept taking things from my bed, haha, and "Do you wanna walk?", Kristens Joke that Lacie didnt get, toilet mystery, my Sarah Moments, Amanda telling us sillythings about her self, and Paige and Elissa haha.
Friday- we set up a prayer station in downtown Flushing and handed out tracts. That was kinda difficult for me, I'm not gonna lie. I got to talk to alot of people though, hehe, and I got kissed by a muslim man, it was so funny. And I handed a tract to a man who was deaf, and, idk, he looked so happy, and, I was really blessed by him. And I got to pray with a guy about my age, he had taken a tract, and then came back and we talked for a bit and then I got to pray for him. I thought it was so cool, ahh it was so cool! I liked doing that because well, i mean he was my age, it felt so cool. Can't wait to do stuff like that all the time (
). Then we went to a KOREAN BARBEQUE, and it was sooooo good! hehe, and we had some good times with the grillie hehe. Then later that night we went to the All Queens Night of Worship, and that was cool. Then me, Elissa, Paige and Amanda had a good chat.
Saturday- got up SUPER EARLY and headed off to Father's heart, a soup Kitchen in Manhattan ( i think it was in Manhattan). That, was really cool. Elissa, Paige, Kristen and I got to be people who walked around and talked to people and prayed for them, and it was such a blessing. I got to pray with a number of different people, it was really neat. Me and Kristen, there was this woman named Maria, who spoke mostly spanish, and so I got Kristen (who knows a lil bit) and she asked her if we could pray for her. So Kristen prayed, then I prayed, and even tho the lady didnt know hardly any English, She started crying, she was so moved. And then me and Kristen started crying, guys, I have never felt so good. God was really working, and it was like woah. A Perfect ending to a good week. Then we came home, sat around for a bit, haha, played with Amanda's hairrr, went shopping, got some super cute stuff, saw a mexican mullett (ahahaha!), came back, played with Amanda's hair some more (teehee) and then had debreifing and such. After that we went to Burger King, and got cursed at, it was so funny haha. And, oh yes, that was the day where i was nearly pulled out of the room from my bunk bed by Daniel, haha, good times.
"I HAVE TO TAKE A DUMP!!!" haha
Sunday- packed and said goodbye, then Went to the Brooklyn Tabernacle....WOW its soo cool. SO many people were there. Very cool stuff, but I like our congregation. Then we headed home, oh dear, good times. Hulk ran out of gas, that was hilarious, well in a way, just the noises it was makin. And when it was raining, water was coming in through the tire thingy, hahaha. And Daniel blasted songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" I personally got way into it on "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and then afte we stopped we listened to wicked the whole way home, hahaha. It was so funny, me and Lacie were all into it, and daniel finally got way into it on "Defying Gravity" so we played it again and sang a part through the walkie talkie to the suburban, haha, amazing. Then the suburban sang "no Good deed" hahaha, it was so fun. We were gettin so into it, I loved it.
I love our uth group.
So, this trip overall was awesome. The people that went were awesome, we had so many fun times, and we became so much more united, and together, and genuinely caring about people. God worked in so many people's lives, including my own. He just, i can't even begin to explain how much it impacted me, praying with people and everything. As Ive come home ive realized it even more.
