Don't call me religious. Let me explain something about my world to you. Magic exists in my world; it comes from this other dimension called the Fade. Demons and spirits dwell in the Fade. People who use magic in the waking world are a target for these beings; they are curious in nature and want to cross over. Demons do it by force--spirits wait till they are summoned. The boy was a young mage, a magic user, and he met a demon that tricked him.

This demon, I should mention, created an army of walking dead.

One of the dangers of being a mage. Boy was a mage, a young one just discovering his power, and he made a deal with a demon. Demons only contact mages since they are the only ones who have magic. Make a deal with a demon and you become possessed. The boy was a fool.

The lad was possessed by demon; we had no choice. His father was ill and he was a young mage; without training but the skill was there. Demons seek out such targets.

Normally children with the magic talent have a tutor or some such to tell them the proper way to deal with demons and the like. This one didn't have a proper teacher.
