Spontaneous trip to Fenghuang in the Hunan countryside tonight. Going with my tutor, xiao Sarah, and her roommates whom I've met a couple times.

You know, I've been told that I speak and write about as well as a Chinese seven-year-old. That was my original stated goal for the year. =P

I'm just gonna put this out there:
Knowing basic Mandarin makes picking up basic Cantonese vocab really easy.
I WILL COME HOME EVENTUALLY I PROMISE

omg I can't believe I just booked tickets to Singapore

I just bought tickets (that I totally can't actually afford) to go visit my friend Shantanu in Singapore.
Given that I haven't seen him since January of 2009 and I'm staying for a week and a half in SINGAPORE, I am pretty freakin' psyched.

I have this disease.
