what's your situation like right now? are seriously in a tight spot or are you just trying to err on the side of caution? if you have a good credit history you could probably say to the landlord "i am moving from far away and times are hard but i am reliable, blah blah, can we work something out for me to pay you in chunks"
this works in america sometimes, anyway. i've never been abroad. but i would guess it's true everywhere that landlords are rarely the type to need a lot of money right away.
