[Written on a piece of slightly crumpled yellow paper, folded into a too-small envelope:]
Hello, Diva,
It was great to hear from you. I have to apologize in advance, I haven't written a real letter in awhile. Actually I went back home a little while ago and I was back in Sapporo. Oddly enough, the island is still there--I can get to it from the Plane, at least. I'll have to make you something with all the passion fruit I collected; it's sweet enough that you might be able to taste it.
I'm glad things are going well. It's good that you're getting to reconnect with those books. I've never actually read any of those authors. It's unfortunate you have to stay cooped up, though. But you get to be with people you care about; as nice as that island is, it got a little lonely there sometimes, all alone.
If my island is still around later I'll have to take you there. I guess I'll see you on the Plane.
I have to admit, it's been a long time since I've been getting and sending letters. If I have to write something to someone, I'm usually sending e-mail, and even that I do rarely. It's not so uncommon in my world, though; writing actual letters is being replaced by e-mail, and hardly anyone takes the time to write anymore.
There were a lot of passion fruit plants growing in the island's interior. The flowers are very beautiful, and the fruit is very sweet and tart. Usually you make it into a sorbet or something, but I want to experiment with it, see what I can come up with. I'll have to let you know when I've made something edible.
I've heard of Lord Byron, and I'd love to hear you read him sometime.
Don't worry about swimming, I'm sure you'll do fine, and I'll be there to make sure nothing happens. I'll definitely bring you there sometime.
That would be quite wonderful, actually. Since I am the one that brought that ballroom, I can promise that it will be quite undisturbed there. Wednesdays are best for me, so I will be sure to do just that.
