Book recommendations - from you to me!

Dec 28, 2010 22:32

So for Christmas, I was fortunate enough to receive a generous amount in gift cards to book stores - YAY! But I am WAY behind on recent releases and what's new and great out there, so...what have you guys read recently that you'd say is "can't miss?" If given the choice, I lean toward YA fantasy, but I'm open to anything. Help a girl out, will

White Cat by Holly Black, if you haven't already read it.

Ugh, that was me before, sorry. I haven't read it yet, but it's on the list - thanks!

I'm in the midst of posting my top fifteen reads -- they're on my journal right now (tag=best books). Enjoy :)

I've seen some of them! I'll have to read through more carefully, with a notebook by my side. Thanks, Robin!

Hey there! Long time no LJ! although I glanced back and saw you have been here recently, but I missed it.

I don't know if it's "must" read, but I recently enjoyed HOLD ME CLOSER, NECROMANCER by Lish McBride a lot.

Yeah, I got terribly slacktastic for a while there! I'm hoping to be better, but I can't make any promises. The title sounds intriguing - it's going on my list! Thanks for the suggestion!

My favorite fantasies this year have been Alyxander Harvey's Hearts at Stake series, Holly Black's White Cat, Melissa Marr's Radiant Shadows, Leah Cypess's Mistwood and Gail Carriger's Soulless (not YA, but *so* much fun!). :D

I'm probably not up on new releases either, especially not in a specific category. However, I do post all my absolute loves on the blog (click on the book reviews tag) and I have some of the same and some different ones on Goodreads.

I tell ya, if you like adult historical romance at all, I'd definitely recommend Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. :) Also Graceling by Kristin Cashore (YA fantasy but not new). Um... Entice is out by Carrie Jones. Have you read the first two, starting with NEED?

No, I am so far behind on my series, although TBH I sometimes like it that way. That way, when I'm done with one book, all I have to do is run to the book store for the next, instead of actually waiting for it to be published. But I'm adding your recs to my list...thank you, my friend!
