Ouch! I know how frustrating a lost entry can be :(

My posts sometimes disappear or go horribly wrong -especially (and somewhat ironically) if I'm adding links to LJ folk). That's why I usually draft things in Word first. At least then I don't have to start from scratch.

I don't think they'll save you any time, but it sure cuts down on the frustration :)

The Function key + F10 switches off the touchpad - it's the first thing I do once my laptop has finished booting up (I use a mouse with it). The same combination switches it back on again. It's pretty instant, and might be handy for you to quickly toggle the setting with if you're writing. (Editing just to add: Obviously the key combination would vary depending on your system, but I'm sure there will be an equivalent for yours to Fn+F10.)

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this summer works out for you on the writing front!

Good to know! I think I just have to buckle down and get a mouse. Thanks for the advice - and the summer well-wishes. I'm hoping the same...

Happy summer! I know it gets old quick, but fwiw I am HUGELY looking forward to seeing you and to our kids seeing each other.

Writing? No advice. Maybe try to grab an hour after they are asleep at night? If you're not too exhausted? Really, I can't do it.
