Correct me if I'm wrong, but when one breaks up with one's girlfriend, one no longer has unrestricted access to her apartment, especially if she has roommates! This includes randomly opening the apartment door and walking in after knocking a few times, and, when confronted by the ex-girlfriend's mildly disgruntled roommate, using the lame excuse " ( Read more... )

So they broke up, then?

How sad. The only people with no social indoctrination found each other, and realized you can't live together with no social indoctrination.

Is simply locking the door an option?

yeah, they broke up about a few months ago...that was nice and dramatic too, remind me to tell you about it in person. it makes for a better story that way.

we usually do lock the door, except we just forgot that one time. I almost wish he'd do it again just so i can ream him out good...i've thought up lots of cool things to say now. =)

Half the time, I think of good things to say way too late, too. My grandmother asked me this weekend when I was getting married. My father later suggested the answer "A month or two after you get the invitation." My actual answer was along the lines of "Uhhhh..."

There's a phrase for that: "esprit d'escalier". Literally in French, "the wit of the staircase", it's defined as "thinking of a witty remark too late; hindsight wit or afterwit. Also such a remark."
