I agree with you on Atwood's essays, that even soft porn can be considered harmful..from my viewpoint as a female, pornography can influence the way a guy treats a girl, and gives them the wrong impression on whats acceptable, which can escalate to other extremes.

I had the same response to the Water Incorporated article. I got halfway through the article and was enraged about the thought of an OPEC type scheme for profiting on the sale of water. Thankfully i was relieved that the world had not come to such extremes because of a civil protest. It's reassuring to see that world leaders listen when a protest is made.

With the internet pornography is now available at anytime and anywhere from what it was when Atwood wrote this, nearly impossible to censor everything children are getting into because it just “pops up” everywhere. I think it needs to be less “secretive” and more discussed with our children because Atwood is right when she says that it’s not just going to go away on its own and decisions have to be made how to deal with it.
You are right! It is everywhere now and trying to hide children from it won't solve the problem, we need to talk about it! It makes me think of the joke about the internet, that it was created to distribute pornography, and it might as well have been! It is easier to find a website with porn, instead of an educational website, or at least it seems that way. Talking about the horrible types of porn that are considered entertainment might actually be a way to stop it, at least a bit.
