Title from Avril Lavigne's Hot bc all I listened to while writing this was Avril Lavigne and I'm sure that says something about the story. Cut text comes from Darren Criss' Human and was the original title. The entire story was inspired by Arnold the baby penguin with a crush on Lani the lifeguard from the movie Surf's Up.

The first time it happened, it really was an accident. Myungsoo's natural tendency to trip over his own feet and his newfound habit of getting distracted every time Sunggyu smiled combined to send his heart jumping into his throat as he lost his footing on the stairs, slipping down a few stairs and jarring his knees before teetering dangerously, closing his eyes as he felt himself start to fall- but his descent down the stairs was halted suddenly by a hand gripping his arm, and Myungsoo opened his eyes in surprise, stumbling backwards when he tried to regain his balance and ending up sitting on the stairs, blinking up at a concerned Sunggyu.

'Are you okay?' Sunggyu asked, his eyes darting all over Myungsoo's face worriedly and Myungsoo nodded, feeling the blush rise in his cheeks at the proximity of Sunggyu's face. Sunggyu relaxed and laughed and Myungsoo melted inside. 'That was close,' Sunggyu remarked, offering his hand to Myungsoo to help him up.

'Yeah. Thanks for saving me,' Myungsoo replied, grabbing Sunggyu's hand perhaps a little too quickly.

'I wasn't going to let you brain yourself by falling down the stairs, Myungsoo, don't be ridiculous.' Sunggyu brushed off the thanks with a grin and Myungsoo gripped his arm.

'Thank you,' he told him seriously and Sunggyu quirked an eyebrow at him.

'No problem,' he replied, 'You sure you're okay?'

Myungsoo glanced down at himself. 'Yes,' he confirmed.

'Good,' Sunggyu said and then turned away, picking up his conversation with Dongwoo. 'So as I was saying...'

Myungsoo let out a mental whine as Sunggyu turned away, resisting the urge to pout. Then he remembered Sunggyu's full attention on him when he was making sure he was okay and felt buoyed up immediately, perfectly content to stand there and think of the way Sunggyu's eyelashes had brushed his cheeks, his small eyes creased in concern.

Sungyeol came to a stop next to him and looked around to see if he could see any sign of why Myungsoo was grinning at thin air. He found nothing.

'Okay, what's with the creeper face?' he asked and Myungsoo turned his grin on him.

'Sunggyu-hyung,' he breathed and Sungyeol looked at him in consternation, looking around again to see if he could see Sunggyu to no avail.

'What about him?'

'He spoke to me!'

Sungyeol stared. 'Yeah. He does that. Thing called talking, it's actually not uncommon. Myungsoo, you're friends with him, he's spoken to you before.'

'No, but this was different,' Myungsoo insisted, seeming to come back himself, a light in his eyes as he looked at Sungyeol. 'I fell down the stairs-' Sungyeol nodded as if to say of course you did, '-and he asked me if I was okay, and he was only focussed on me and he was like this close, Sungyeol.'

Sungyeol reared back with a slightly perturbed blink, suddenly finding Myungsoo's face far too close to his for comfort.

'Okay,' he soothed, pushing Myungsoo a little back by his shoulders, 'Sounds life-changing. And here I thought it was just hero-worship when you stared at him.'

'What?' Myungsoo asked, suddenly worried. 'I stare at him? You've noticed?'

'You stare at everyone, don't freak out,' Sungyeol assured him, 'I don't think he's noticed.'

Myungsoo took a deep breath of relief. 'So you're the only one who's noticed?'

Sungyeol snorted, reaching a hand out to ruffle Myungsoo's hair, earning an indignant squawk from Myungsoo as he batted Sungyeol's hands away, smoothing down his hair as Sungyeol spoke.

'Yeah, because I'm the only one who pays any attention to you, Kim Myungsoo.' Myungsoo wasn't sure if he was being facetious or not, but decided he didn't really care. As long as Sunggyu hadn't noticed.

'Let's go get lunch,' Sungyeol suggested and Myungsoo nodded, distracted by the promise of food.

'Where'd you go, I thought you were right behind us,' Sunggyu said with a laugh as they sat down and Myungsoo started, feeling his cheeks heat up.

Sungyeol gave him a look and rolled his eyes. 'He saw me and waited.'

'Why did you tell him that?' Myungsoo hissed as Sunggyu turned back to Dongwoo and Hoya.

'What, would you like me to tell him you were daydreaming about marrying him and having a million babies?' Sungyeol shot back quietly and Myungsoo flushed.

'I was not,' he protested.

'So what are you boyfriends muttering about?' Woohyun asked brightly, sliding in across from them and Myungsoo's eyes flickered towards Sunggyu.

'He's not my boyfriend,' Myungsoo said hurriedly and Sungyeol snorted next to him as Woohyun blinked at him.

'Yeah, I know,' Woohyun replied slowly and Hoya glanced over with a quirk of the lips and Myungsoo turned his attention back to his food determinedly for the rest of lunch, looking up only to sneak glances at Sunggyu, laughing at something Woohyun had said and whacking Hoya on the shoulder and Myungsoo wished he could have Sunggyu's eyes looking at him as they had earlier, focussed completely on him.

--

'You're insane,' Sungyeol told Myungsoo.

'No, it's a great plan,' Myungsoo insisted and Sungyeol propped a hand on his hip, raising an eyebrow at Myungsoo incredulously.

'You want to get yourself into shit so Sunggyu-hyung will pay attention to you. That's your plan, right?'

Myungsoo glanced at the floor and shifted. 'Well. I mean not a lot, just. A bit.'

'Insane,' Sungyeol reiterated, 'Where's Sungjong when you need him.'

'Don't tell Sungjong,' Myungsoo said instantly, 'Don't tell anyone, but especially not Sungjong.'

'Why, because we're all quite happy to watch you make a fool of yourself and Sungjong would actually try to talk you out of it?' Sungyeol said with a grin.

'I'd try to talk him out of what?' Sungjong asked curiously, looking between the two of them and Sungyeol sidled away with a grin that clearly meant he was trying not to just burst out laughing at the deer caught in the headlights look Myungsoo wore. 'Well?' Sungjong prompted, looking at Myungsoo expectantly.

'Nothing?' Myungsoo tried and Sungjong raised an eyebrow. Myungsoo's eyes slipped over Sungjong's shoulder to stare beseechingly at a grinning Sungyeol, who'd retreated to the lockers and just shrugged at Myungsoo's unspoken plea.

Sungyeol raised a hand in greeting and Myungsoo glanced over his shoulder to see Sunggyu and Woohyun approaching and he turned back quickly, sending a slightly guilty smile at Sungjong before moving and whacking his toes into his boulder-like bag, letting out a yelp that was only a little exaggerated, grabbing at his foot and hopping around, overbalancing and colliding with someone else, a familiar laugh ringing in his ears as pretty fingers gripped his shoulders to steady him.

'What happened there?' Sunggyu asked, eyebrows knitted together in amused concern.

'Stubbed my toe,' Myungsoo managed, his cheeks burning from Sunggyu's proximity, hyperaware of Sunggyu's body heat against his back, his skin tingling where Sunggyu's fingers still gripped him.

'You okay?'

Myungsoo would be quite happy to melt into Sunggyu and stay like that all day, but he realised that would probably be considered weird so he put his foot down and stood straight, hand coming up to scratch at the back of his head. 'Yeah. Thanks. Again.'

Sunggyu blinked and then laughed. 'Oh, yeah, the other day. No, of course. You should be more careful, I can't always be here to save you.'

I wish you were, Myungsoo's mind supplied wistfully while Myungsoo gave a laugh.

'Sorry, my guardian angel appears to have gone on strike,' he said bashfully and Sunggyu let out a surprised burst of laughter.

'That's unfortunate. You'll just have to look where you're going so long.'

'I do!' Myungsoo insisted. 'I mean, mostly.'

Sunggyu laughed and clapped a hand on Myungsoo's shoulder. 'Maybe you need to look a bit harder. I gotta go, I'll see you guys later.' He nodded at Sungyeol and Sungjong and crinkled his eyes at Myungsoo, Woohyun giving Myungsoo a faintly amused grin as he passed, and Myungsoo watched Sunggyu leave, hand raised in a wave, his heart tripping over itself in his chest as he let out a little sigh as Sunggyu turned the corner, and sat down abruptly on his bag.

He heard Sungyeol laugh as he approached and looked up to see Sungjong raising an eyebrow at him, arms crossed.

'What,' Myungsoo mumbled, cheeks heating up again, 'Don't judge me.'

Sungjong heaved a long-suffering sigh. 'As long as you don't break anything, hyung,' he declared, shaking his head and walking away, holding his hands up in an abdication of any responsibility.

Myungsoo's face brightened as he grinned after Sungjong. 'He approves!' he told Sungyeol excitedly and Sungyeol let out a bark of laughter as he held out a hand to help Myungsoo up.

'I don't think that was approval,' he informed Myungsoo.

'Well, he didn't try to talk me out of it, so close enough.' Myungsoo brushed off his pants and leaned down to pick his bag up as Sungyeol just shook his head at him.

Myungsoo stuck his tongue out at his phone and looked around, huddling closer into his jacket as a breeze blew. His phone rang and he glanced down at it, grinning when Sunggyu's name flashed on the display.

'Hello?' he answered.

'Myungsoo? Are you still there?' Sunggyu's voice was worried over the phone and something warm curled in Myungsoo's chest.

'Yeah, I haven't moved.'

'Okay, there's a bus stop around the corner, try find somewhere to stand where it's... not under the broken streetlight, a bit more light. Do you think you can find the bus stop?'

Myungsoo glanced at either end of the street he was on. 'I think so? I'm not sure.'

The phone crackled as Sunggyu sighed. 'Okay, never mind, just stay put. Put your phone away. Hang tight, okay?'

'Okay,' Myungsoo repeated. The line went dead and Myungsoo held it to his chest for a second, smiling to himself.

[20:27 Myungsoo]: hyung thank you

[20:28 Sunggyu]: phone away myungsoo

Myungsoo stuck his phone into his pocket and wandered over to an unbroken streetlight, leaning against it and wrapping his arms around himself, glancing around with just a little nervousness. He had zoned out soon enough, staring at the graffiti on the wall, trying to decipher the stylised writing and trying to guess what the acronyms of the tags stood for, the sound of cars in the distance while the street he had found himself on remained deserted.

'Myungsoo!'

Myungsoo started and turned at the shout, his face breaking in a wide grin at the sight of Sunggyu speedwalking towards him, glancing around nervously.

'Hyung!' he replied, lifting a hand in greeting.

'How did you end up here?' Sunggyu asked when he reached Myungsoo, eyes scanning him as if to check for injuries. 'Are you okay? What are you doing here?'

'I'm fine,' Myungsoo replied and hesitated. 'I... zoned out and got off at the wrong bus stop and walked around and then ended up here. Thanks for coming to get me hyung, I'm... really bad at directions.'

'Yeah, no, of course,' Sunggyu replied distractedly, eyes darting around the street unsurely. 'Uh, let's get out of here. Do you wanna go get something to eat?' Myungsoo brightened.

'Yeah, okay! I can buy you some food to say thank you!'

Sunggyu waved a hand dismissively and tugged on Myungsoo's arm, seeming to forget his hand on Myungsoo's elbow as they headed back in the direction Sunggyu had come from and Myungsoo resisted the urge to curl in closer, butterflies fluttering in his stomach. 'No it's fine, hyung will pay.'

Myungsoo gazed at Sunggyu with starry-eyes, Sunggyu preoccupied in checking the surroundings, fidgeting nervously until the next bus pulled up.

He relaxed greatly when they were in the bright lights of a McDonalds, table littered with wrappers and boxes, Sunggyu's eyes crinkling as he shook his head in amazement at the amount of food Myungsoo was inhaling.

'Was I really the only one you could get hold of?' Sunggyu asked, his eyes twinkling fondly as he reached for the last of his fries and the sound of Myungsoo sucking on the straw of his empty cooldrink seemed loud in the almost empty fast food joint, ice cubes rattling as Myungsoo chewed on his straw.

'You were the first person I thought of,' he admitted quietly and Sunggyu's eyes widened in surprise, cheeks puffy with food before he ducked his head with a laugh, hand coming up hover aimlessly above his head and Myungsoo dropped his head shyly, still chewing on his straw as his cheeks heated up.

'You're not going to get lost on your way to your front door, are you?' Sunggyu asked with a laugh when they reached Myungsoo's house and Myungsoo shook his head.

'No, I think I'll be fine,' he laughed and held his breath for a beat before clamping his arms around Sunggyu in a tight hug. 'Thank you, hyung,' he whispered and Sunggyu patted his back with a fond chuckle.

'I'll see you at school,' he replied and Myungsoo nodded, reluctantly letting go, stopping to give Sunggyu a wave as he reached his front door.

He collapsed on his bed with a sigh, nuzzling into his pillow momentarily before twisting onto his back and fishing out his phone, pressing dial and holding it to his ear.

One ring, two rings, three rings-

'Still alive, I gather. What's up?' Sungyeol's voice was dry over the phone.

'When he gets a surprise while he's eating he looks like a hamster, it's so adorable,' Myungsoo said in a rush, feeling giddy. There was a click, and Myungsoo's forehead creased at the dead silence on the other end of the line. 'Hello?' he tried, 'Yeol? Sungyeol?' He pulled the phone away from his ear and looked at it to see his homescreen shining on him. He pouted at it for a couple seconds before putting it aside, throwing a leg over the bamboo pillow that lay on his bed and cuddling it close as he let out a contented sigh, imagining it was Sunggyu.

--

'-and then Noeul-noona realised Yoonhye had it the whole time!' Dongwoo finished with a bright grin, sitting on a counter in the kitchen as Myungsoo dug around in search of food, and Myungsoo laughed, closing the cupboard in failure, only to let out a yelp as it swung shut on the tip of his finger.

He bounced around for a couple seconds, flapping his hand wildly, Dongwoo immediately sliding off the counter, concern scribbled all over his face, reaching for Myungsoo.

'Oh my god, Myungsoo, are you okay? Did it slam hard?' Myungsoo stopped bouncing long enough for Dongwoo to grab his hand and inspect his finger closely.

'I'm fine, hyung, it just caught the end of it, I think it was more surprise than anything,' Myungsoo assured him and Dongwoo looked up.

'Are you sure?' Dongwoo asked and Myungsoo nodded.

'Yeah, it doesn't really hurt anym- owwwwwww!' Myungsoo whined loudly, eyes fixed on the door Sunggyu had just walked through.

Sunggyu's eyebrows furrowed and he hurried over to inspect the hand Myungsoo had yanked from Dongwoo's grasp and was holding as if it were broken. 'What happened?' he exclaimed.

'I slammed it in the cupboard,' Myungsoo explained, voice whiny and pained.

Dongwoo's face was a picture of complete surprise as he looked between Sunggyu and Myungsoo, and when he noticed the way Myungsoo was staring at Sunggyu's head as he inspected his finger it broke into an amused grin, laced with delight.

'Do you think it's broken?' Sunggyu asked, 'Try to move it.'

Myungsoo tentatively moved his finger. 'I think it's okay, hyung, it just hurts.'

'What hurts?' Sungyeol asked around his lollipop, returning to the kitchen.

'Myungsoo's finger,' Sunggyu replied distantly, 'He slammed it in the cupboard.'

Sungyeol raised an eyebrow and glanced at Dongwoo's twinkling eyes. 'Oh yeah? Maybe you should kiss it better, hyung.'

Myungsoo's head whipped around to look at him, his eyes wide and his cheeks flushing as Dongwoo's laughter rang through the kitchen. Sunggyu shot Sungyeol a confused glance and Myungsoo carefully took his hand back.

'It's not that sore,' he muttered, the tips of his ears glowing red, and Dongwoo and Sungyeol exchanged amused glances.

'What's everyone looking so concerned about?' Woohyun asked brightly as he and Hoya walked into the kitchen and Sunggyu turned to look at him.

'Myungsoo was just in the wars yet again,' Sunggyu said and Woohyun's eyes travelled over Sunggyu's exasperatedly concerned expression, Myungsoo's red cheeks and Dongwoo and Sungyeol's grins and his eyes twinkled while Hoya eyed the lollipop in Sungyeol's mouth in mild interest.

'You know, he's always been clumsy, but he seems to have gotten even more clumsy whenever you're around,' Woohyun commented mildly and Myungsoo's head shot up to look at him in horror, his eyes wide again and he made wild slashing 'abort' signals with his arms, even slicing his hand across his throat and Sunggyu blinked at Woohyun, perplexed, Myungsoo's flailing and furious face immediately disappearing when Sunggyu turned to look at him, replaced by an innocent pout and him holding his finger again and Dongwoo slipped off the counter and ducked out the room in an attempt to not burst out laughing, Sungyeol practically convulsing where he sat on the counter as he tried to keep silent, one of his eyes crinkling shut. Sunggyu turned back to see Hoya and Woohyun grinning widely and Myungsoo scowled at them from behind him.

'What?' Sunggyu said, looking at Woohyun as if he doubted his mental sanity.

'Nothing,' Woohyun said in a voice strangled by suppressed laughter, 'I must be imagining things.' Hoya nodded next to him, and Sunggyu eyed them suspiciously.

'Did I miss something?' he asked after a few beats and Sungyeol burst into laughter, making Sunggyu jump.

'Don't mind him, he's just finally cracked,' Myungsoo declared loudly, pushing a confused Sunggyu out of the kitchen, his ears burning red.

--

'You are so pale it's ridiculous,' Woohyun said, poking Sungyeol in the stomach and Sungyeol slapped his hand away.

'I don't have a natural tan like you, okay,' Sungyeol said snippily.

'At least we know you're not a vampire,' Hoya added with a laugh, tugging his shirt over his head. 'Standing out in the sun like this. Maybe you'll even get a tan.'

Sungyeol snorted absentmindedly, glancing over Hoya. 'Probably not.' He unscrewed the lid of his cooldrink and took a swig.

'Can you even surf?' Sunggyu was demanding of Dongwoo, eyeing the surfboard next to him dubiously.

'I've had a couple lessons,' Dongwoo said cheerfully, 'I'm sure someone will help me out if I need it.’

'I've always wanted to learn to surf,' Sungjong commented idly.

'Not afraid it'll mess up your hair?' Hoya teased and Sungjong snorted.

'I'm not Myungsoo,' he replied dryly, glancing to where Myungsoo was running along the surf, laughing while he chased a dog.

'Hey, hyung,' Woohyun said suddenly, turning to Sunggyu. 'Buy us some food? I'll help you carry.'

'You can help me pay,' Sunggyu shot back and Woohyun shrugged.

'Maybe. Should we go get some? I'm hungry.' Woohyun looked expectantly at him.

'Treat us, hyung, come on, you never do that,' Hoya said with a laugh and Sunggyu reached out to whack him on the shoulder.

'I do. You chip in, I'm never gonna get any money from this weasel,' he said, nodding towards Woohyun.

'Hey!' Woohyun complained, 'If anyone's the weasel it's you, hyung.'

'You do have the eyes for it,' Hoya agreed and Sunggyu whacked him again, whacking Woohyun for good measure.

Myungsoo glanced over and dropped into the water, sputtering and flailing when his head came above the waves. 'Help!' he yelled and everyone whipped around to see what the commotion was, sand churning up in the water around him. 'Sunggyu-hyung!' he cried, eyes fixing on Sunggyu- who was, argumentatively, closest. 'Help!'

Sunggyu stared in disbelief. 'Are you serious?' he demanded of no one in particular, marching off down the sand before anyone could answer, wading into the water and reaching out to grab Myungsoo's arm, pulling him to his feet. Sunggyu looked down as Myungsoo panted lightly, pushing his sodden hair out of his face. 'Myungsoo, it doesn't even come up to your knees!'

Dongwoo's surfboard lay on the sand, Dongwoo next to it in hysterics, people glancing over because of his loud laughter. Woohyun laughed along, and Hoya was leaning on Sungyeol, his head resting on his shoulder as he held his belly in hysterics, and Sungyeol was letting out little bursts of laughter, eyeing Hoya leaning against him with his eyebrows knitted. Even Sungjong was watching the scene with an odd expression of unimpressed amusement.

'You're my hero, hyung,' Myungsoo said breathlessly, ignoring Sunggyu's observation. Sunggyu stared at him exasperatedly before grabbing his arm and pulling him out of the lapping waves.

'Seriously, hyung, you saved my life, you're my hero,' Myungsoo insisted and red tinted Sunggyu's cheekbones.

'Okay, well, just.' Sunggyu dropped Myungsoo's arm once they were a little way away from the water, gesturing vaguely. 'Don't go in the- just stay here. Stay. I'm going to go get some food. Stay.' Sunggyu's words were accompanied by hand movements, as if training a puppy, and Myungsoo nodded eagerly as Sunggyu backed away, catching Woohyun's elbow and heading off towards the food stalls.

'Well done, you. Real smooth. You realise Sunggyu can't swim, right?' Sungyeol said, wandering over to stand next to Myungsoo as he gazed goopily after Sunggyu, sipping on his cooldrink.

Myungsoo blinked at Sungyeol. 'He can't?'

'Have you ever seen him swim?' Sungyeol countered and Myungsoo considered this.

'Well, no, but. I just thought he. Didn't like water.'

Sungyeol snorted. 'How lucky you decided to pretend to drown in shallow water.'

'I wasn't pretending,' Myungsoo muttered, his ears turning red and Sungyeol laughed loudly.

'I won't tell him, promise. Can't speak for the others but I think we're all having too much fun watching you be absolutely ridiculous to risk bringing an end to it.'

They stood there in silence for a bit, Myungsoo's eyes turning round and pleading and his lower lip jutting out in a small pout as he stared at Sungyeol's bottle of coke, eyes occasionally glancing up at Sungyeol's face.

'What?' Sungyeol said after the puppy dog eyes got too weird for him to handle.

'I accidentally swallowed some sea water,' Myungsoo told him earnestly and Sungyeol rolled his eyes.

'Here, you can have some of this,' he muttered, shoving his coke in Myungsoo's direction.

Myungsoo's face brightened into a grin as he took it. 'Thanks, Yeol, you're the best!'

--

Someone had turned up the music and Dongwoo was bouncing around in the middle of the living room exuberantly, singing along and pulling Noeul in for an excited dance, almost knocking Hoya over and Myungsoo laughed until he almost fell over, clutching at his drink.

'Are you drunk or is that just you?' Sunggyu asked, grinning at him widely, cheeks flushed and Myungsoo felt a happy warmth spread through him at the sight of him.

'He's not drunk,' Sungyeol cut in, falling against Myungsoo. 'He's had like two drinks.'

'Some people get drunk off two drinks,' Sunggyu pointed out and Sungyeol shook his head.

'Not him. I'm pretty sure he's been sneaking his parents' alcohol since he was a baby, with his alcohol tolerance. I intend to get him drunk tonight, though. Woohyun brought more alcohol.'

'Is that wise, though, I mean, he's almost killing himself while sober.' Sunggyu's eyebrows furrowed as he focussed on Sungyeol.

'I'm right here, you know,' Myungsoo piped up, 'And I'm not that bad. And I bet you can't get me drunk, Yeol.'

'Can too,' Sungyeol insisted, and Myungsoo shook his head, finishing the last of his drink. 'Okay,' Sungyeol said, putting his game face on, his eyes gleaming with challenge. 'Okay. Drinking competition. Now. You and me, come on.'

Myungsoo let out a burst of laughter. 'You can't beat me.'

'I'll bring in reinforcements. Sunggyu-'

'No,' Sunggyu said, shaking his head, 'I've already had quite a bit, no drinking competitions for me, they end badly.'

'Well, I'll find someone, come on,' Sungyeol said, turning back to Myungsoo. 'Or are you chicken?'

'I will beat you so badly,' Myungsoo told him confidently and Sungyeol flashed him a grin before dragging him off, yelling for Woohyun, Sunggyu blinking after them.

'What's going on?' Hoya asked, escaping from the flailing arms on the makeshift dance floor.

'Drinking competition. Sungyeol wants to get Myungsoo drunk. You can be his second, come on,' Sunggyu said, grabbing his arm and dragging him after Sungyeol and Myungsoo.

The world was spinning around Myungsoo when he finally found himself heading home, the pavement shifting under his feet even as he breathed in, slowly realising the person holding him vaguely upright was not as tall as his usual drunk crutch.

'Where's Sungyeol?' he asked and Sunggyu shook his head, looking dizzy.

'I don't know,' he mumbled, 'He told me to take you home and then disappeared. You live around the corner, right?'

'Two blocks away,' Myungsoo replied after thinking about it, and Sunggyu nodded.

'Okay. Let's go.'

Myungsoo stumbled and almost fell, gripping onto Sunggyu's shirt tightly as Sunggyu gripped onto him, trying to keep his balance.

'Okay, let's. Try this,' Sunggyu mumbled, blinking as if trying to clear his head, shifting and slinging an arm over Myungsoo's shoulder. Myungsoo made a small noise of contentment and snuggled in closer until Sunggyu made a small noise of discontent. 'Your knees- you're taller- here.' Sunggyu pushed Myungsoo up and ducked under his arm, affixing it over his shoulders, slipping his arm around Myungsoo's waist and they wobbled unsteadily down the road.

'That's my house!' Myungsoo declared when they almost tottered past his house, stopping and swerving to a halt, causing Sunggyu to stumble. 'How- how are you getting home?' he asked Sunggyu and Sunggyu rubbed his eyes.

'I don't- I don't live far, I can walk-'

'But you're drunk,' Myungsoo protested loudly and Sunggyu shushed him.

'Yes,' he said finally, 'But you need to go inside because you're at home.' He gave a definitive nod and Myungsoo pouted before brightening.

'Sleep here! You can go home in the morning once you've sobered up!' he suggested.

'Is that okay?' Sunggyu asked and Myungsoo nodded enthusiastically, grabbing Sunggyu's arm when the world tilted on its axis again.

'Yeah, Sungyeol does it all the time. We just have to be quiet.'

'I am quiet,' Sunggyu told him, 'You have to be quiet.'

Myungsoo considered this. 'Okay,' he agreed, 'I'll be quiet.'

They managed to get up the stairs without much racket, Sunggyu shushing Myungsoo every time he missed a step and then Myungsoo collapsed on his bed, lying still for a couple seconds as his rapid change of point of view caused the world to shift, before he fought with his belt, kicking the covers down.

'Just sleep in the bed,' he told Sunggyu, 'It's the easiest.'

Sunggyu let out a little laugh and stumbled over to the bed, wincing at the noise before crawling in and nuzzling into the pillows, letting out a little whine of comfort and Myungsoo tossed the bamboo pillow over him, snuggling into Sunggyu's side instead.

'Night,' Sunggyu mumbled on a yawn and Myungsoo made a small sound of agreement, burying his face in Sunggyu's shirt.

Myungsoo woke up the next morning to Sunggyu attempting to push him off him and out of instinct he gripped tighter- until he realised who he was cuddling and promptly let go, his cheeks flushing.

'Sorry,' he mumbled, 'I cling when I sleep.'

'No, it's fine,' Sunggyu replied, his voice sleep-roughened, 'I just need the loo. And my mouth tastes like shit. Where's your bathroom?'

'Just to the right of my room,' Myungsoo told and Sunggyu gave a twitchy half-smile before shuffling out the room. Myungsoo lay there for a couple seconds, still dazed and half asleep as he curled into the warm spot Sunggyu had left behind, starting a little at the damp patch on his shirt, his lips curling into a happy smile.

'How are you feeling?' Myungsoo asked Sungyeol sympathetically the day after that and Sungyeol groaned.

'Like crap. I don't think I sobered up until yesterday afternoon, which means I'm left with the hangover today. Why did I challenge you to a drinking competition. I don't even remember who won.'

Myungsoo thought about this. 'I think it ended up being you against Hoya, actually. So it's not my fault.' Sungyeol winced.

'You said Sunggyu spent the day at your place yesterday, you must have been overjoyed,' Sungyeol yawned.

'He went home at about lunchtime, actually,' Myungsoo said regretfully, 'My mom made kimchi jigae and he said his stomach was about to rebel at the smell of it. And he wanted to brush his teeth. So he went home. But Sungyeol, he was so warm and cuddly and smelled good, and I slept right next to him, Yeol, he was right there, he cuddled with me!' Myungsoo let out a happy sigh and Sungyeol raised an eyebrow at him.

'He probably smelled like alcohol, so that point is void,' Sungyeol pointed out and Myungsoo gave a careless shrug. 'And I thought you said he drooled on you. Why you chose to share that with me, I don't know, but.'

'It was only a little, and it means he cuddled with me and his head was on my shoulder, so I don't care about bodily fluids,' Myungsoo said cheerfully and Sungyeol gave a shudder.

'Ugh, don't talk about bodily fluids. Please tell me you washed the shirt.'

Myungsoo side-eyed Sungyeol. 'Of course, why wouldn't I wash the shirt, that's weird.'

Sungyeol gave a snort. 'Just checking. Good to hear you haven't quite descended into complete stalker creepiness.'

'Hey. You look like shit, hyung,' Sungjong greeted, surveying Sungyeol with mild distaste.

'Do you not get hangovers?' Sungyeol demanded weakly and Sungjong raised an amused eyebrow.

'Not two days later. And I drink plenty of fluids,' Sungjong said with a small grin and Sungyeol let out a little groan.

'Please stop talking about fluids,' he begged.

'Why? I suppose I should have said water, actually. You drank plenty of fluids too,' Sungjong chuckled and Myungsoo laughed as Sungyeol twitched and shook his head, his face screwed up in a slightly pained expression. 'Are you guys coming to get ice-cream after school? Woohyun-hyung's feeling pretty tender himself, but Dongwoo-hyung convinced him. Convinced Hoya-hyung too, not that I'd ever think he needed convincing.'

Sungyeol froze next to Myungsoo, who nodded. 'I'll come.'

'Hoya, huh? Yeah, I think I'll- I have a thing. A school thing. Project. Thing.' Sungyeol nodded and Myungsoo and Sungjong eyed him doubtfully. 'What? I do do my homework sometimes.'

'Oh, Sungjong, guess what?' Myungsoo said excitedly and Sungjong turned to him expectantly.

'What?'

'He's creepy and dragged Sunggyu into bed with him Saturday night. See you later,' Sungyeol interjected, shooting Myungsoo as cheery a smile as he could manage before waltzing away, leaving Myungsoo with Sungjong's wide eyes.

'You did what?'

'That sounded really bad, okay, he just spent the night because he was drunk and couldn't walk home alone, nothing happened,' Myungsoo explained defensively and Sungjong's expression relaxed.

'You just used him as a teddy bear and that's why you're in such a good mood?' Sungjong asked innocently enough, a twinkle in his eyes and Myungsoo couldn't hold back his grin.

'He's so warm,' he sighed.

--

Myungsoo wandered to his locker after the last bell of the day, looking around idly, a little burst of warmth starting in his chest when he caught sight of the back of Sunggyu's head. His smile slipped a little as he took in more, took in the way Sunggyu was laughing as Woohyun said something, at the way his hand was resting on Woohyun’s shoulder as if it belonged there, at Woohyun's light touch to his waist as he spoke and when Sunggyu tilted his head towards Woohyun, Myungsoo felt a little panicked spark race through him, with a (irrational) cry of No, don't! in his mind.

He threw his gaze around, and spotted the lockers, moving before he could think about it, and next thing he knew he was on the floor, clutching his sore head and seriously questioning his choices in life.

'Jesus, Myungsoo, are you okay?' Sunggyu crouched down next to him, his hand fluttering between his shoulder and his head.

'Ow,' he whimpered, and glanced over Sunggyu's shoulder to catch sight of Woohyun looking torn between concern and laughter and as he took stock of the surprised faces of the rest of the students starting to surround them, he could feel his cheeks heating up.

'What happened? How did you hit your head? It sounded like the locker had fallen over!' Sunggyu fussed over him, prying Myungsoo's hand from his head, his fingers brushing the rapidly swelling bump.

'I- don’t know,' Myungsoo said lamely, feeling the red hot flush of embarrassment seep through him.

'How many fingers am I holding up?' Sunggyu asked and Myungsoo stared at him.

'Two,' he replied and Sunggyu looked relieved.

'We should get you to the nurse anyway,' he said, standing up and offering a hand to Myungsoo, leaning down to pick up his bag. 'Come on, I'll take you. It's quite a lump already.'

Sunggyu led Myungsoo away, hands gentle on his shoulders as he guided him through the corridors, Myungsoo's hands pressed against his forehead again, the butterflies in his stomach managing to flutter through the mortification he felt.

Sungyeol's call came just as Myungsoo walked through the door of his house and Myungsoo made a face- Sungyeol didn't call him often.

'Hello?' he answered tentatively.

'You ran into a locker?' Sungyeol howled with laughter and Myungsoo winced, pushing open his bedroom door, his cheeks growing red again. 'You actually ran headfirst into a locker?'

'Shut up,' Myungsoo groaned, falling backwards onto his bed, covering his face with his free hand.

'Woohyun said he almost bust a gut trying not to laugh! What were you thinking?'

'I don't know,' Myungsoo whined, 'I can't help myself around him, okay, I just turn stupid.'

'Oh, god, I wish I'd seen it,' Sungyeol gasped, 'You giant spaz.'

Myungsoo let out a helpless groan, reaching out for a pillow to hug.

'Dude, seriously.' Sungyeol gave into laughter for a couple more seconds before calming himself. 'You know Woohyun-hyung's not trying to poach your man, right? Like, they're just best friends. You hang onto me more than Woohyun hangs onto Sunggyu-hyung.'

'I know,' Myungsoo mumbled into the pillow.

'Even if Woohyun didn't like Jaekyung-noona, everyone knows you like Sunggyu-hyung,' Sungyeol continued and Myungsoo curled into the pillow, sure he could cook an egg on his cheeks.

'What?' he whined and Sungyeol snorted.

'Hate to break it to you, but you're not exactly subtle.'

Myungsoo let out a wordless whine into his pillow.

'So how's your head?' Sungyeol asked, mirth creeping back into his tone and Myungsoo let out a laugh in spite of himself.

'I have a lump the size of small egg on my forehead,' he admitted, 'It's turning purple, and it hurts to blink.'

There was almost silence on the line before Myungsoo buried his face in his pillow. 'You can laugh,' he said, slightly petulantly, and Sungyeol burst into laughter again.

--

'Coming!' Myungsoo called, bounding down the stairs, freezing when he opened the door to see Sunggyu, his cheeks already pinkening.

'Hi. You've been avoiding me at school for about two days now, I figured I'd just come over. Can I come in?' Sunggyu asked, and Myungsoo coughed.

'Uh, yeah. Hi.' He closed the door behind Sunggyu and followed him up the stairs. 'I haven't been avoiding you.'

Sunggyu snorted. 'Well, no, but you've been attached to Sungyeol and Sungjong even more than usual. How's your head?'

Myungsoo could feel his ears turning red. 'It's okay. A little sore if I poke it or bump it, but. It looks worse than it feels.'

'Your hair hides it,' Sunggyu told him, settling on his bed and patting the bed next to him.

Myungsoo hesitantly moved towards him and sat on the bed too. 'Hyung, you didn’t have to come all the way here to ask about my head,' Myungsoo said softly and Sunggyu laughed.

'I know,' he said fondly, and reached out to ruffle Myungsoo's fringe lightly. 'You know, you don't have to hurt yourself or get into trouble to get me to notice you.'

Myungsoo choked on thin air, at a complete loss as to what to say. 'What?' he gasped out and Sunggyu's lips twitched.

'You stupid kid,' he muttered and leaned forward to press his lips to Myungsoo's, causing Myungsoo to freeze and briefly forget how to breathe. 'You could have just told me, it would have been far less dangerous.'

Myungsoo let out an involuntary squeak, his eyes wide as they stared at Sunggyu, his hand fluttering up to touch his lips lightly.

The silence stretched on as Myungsoo didn't move a muscle, and Sunggyu shifted awkwardly. 'Yeah, if you didn't get it, that was me conf-'

Myungsoo threw himself forward, cutting Sunggyu off with an enthusiastic kiss, Sunggyu's eyes widening momentarily as he suddenly found himself with a lapful of Myungsoo, before they fluttered closed and he slid his arms around Myungsoo's waist as he kissed him back, small laugh bubbling in his throat.

Myungsoo pulled back, his cheeks flushed and his eyes sparkling, a wide grin splitting his face. 'Is this actually happening? I'm not imagining things, right?'

Sunggyu laughed and dumped Myungsoo on the bed, settling on top of him. 'I don't think you hit your head that hard,' he said and leaned down to trace Myungsoo's lips with his tongue, Myungsoo making a happy noise in his throat and pulling Sunggyu closer. Their breathing came heavier and Myungsoo let out a little sound when Sunggyu nipped his bottom lip, pressing forward with a vengeance, trying to get as close as he could, curling into him-

Myungsoo fell back against the bed with a little yelp, hand coming up to cover the lump on his forehead he'd just knocked, and Sunggyu huffed out a laugh, burying his face in the crook of Myungsoo's neck.

'Woohyun told me you ran into the locker on purpose.'

Myungsoo's eyes widened in surprise at the muffled words. 'He did what?' he exclaimed, pushing at Sunggyu's shoulders so he could see his face, all the embarrassment melting into heat at the puffy pinkness of Sunggyu's lips.

'He wouldn't stop laughing whenever I mentioned it, I had to beat it out of him,' Sunggyu explained, leaning down to press his lips lightly to Myungsoo's.

'I'm going to kill him,' Myungsoo muttered distractedly, no heat behind the words.

'Can we stop talking about Woohyun now, please,' Sunggyu mumbled against Myungsoo's lips.

Myungsoo thought this was a great idea.
