Ratatosk again.
I was charged with guarding the Giant Kharlan Tree a long time ago. It was important to the world-central in the world’s mana distribution. Without it the world would have slowly died, and there would have been much disaster. Not too different from what that book said, but it also got who I was wrong. I am not a messenger squirrel. I was tasked with the tree’s protection. That must have been what I remembered all that time ago.
And there was something else, too, something other than the tree. If I failed, there would be consequences. I wanted to prevent that at all costs.
Judging by the fact that Klarth is even alive, at least it looks I succeeded in that.
