mannnnnnn, i am on my phone 90% of the time i'm driving, and it has never caused me to have an accident. not saying i haven't been in or been responsible for any accidents, just saying i was not on the phone when i was in them.

so i have to say yes, it is indeed utter stupidity which causes most accidents.

Why are cell phones specifically mentioned as a distraction? What about screaming infants? Better ban those too.

Probably because cell phones were recently made a primary offense in New Jersey (that is, they can pull you over for being on the phone; before they could ticket you for it, but you had to be pulled over for something else.)

I don't think senility counts as a driving distraction. That's another 30% right there.

And then there's the 15% of all accidents caused by people from Pennsylvania.
