I'm sure my Yokubo crew would sweep the medals in that event. ;)
But seriously, on the issue of debts and such with cities hosting the Olympics. Sure, some cities had some big debts to pay off (Montreal, host of the 1976 Games, being the prime example), but of the recent Games, in Barcelona, Sydney and even Athens, debts have actually not been much of an issue, and in Sydney's case, they have made back the money spent on the event already. :)
I'm almost certain that we'll get it just right. :)
I expect this'll make the already outrageous prices in London hit all time highs when the Olympics roll around, yeah? That'll be wild. You'll probably be able to rent out your closet for the two weeks for a whole stack of bills.
Cheers! Hope there's no craziness like in Greece. Maybe that Millenium Dome will actually be useful for something.

Sadly, i don't think they'd have much luck with running.. I mean, I'm not sure walking is even possible for some anymore.
(And congrats, by the way }:-> )
