It's still black for the time being. It turned out well. (I bought cheap dye last time to touch up my roots and it didn't work at all.) After I was done, I took the scissors to it. You cut your own hair, right? This is the first time I've ever tried it, other than just cutting a few pieces in the front. Thankfully I didn't screw it up, but it's not quite as dramatic as I wanted, so I'll probably chop some more off.

I've never dyed my hair. What color are you using? Why does it hurt? Scary.

It's not scary at all. I've been dying my hair since I was 15 or so. I've had it black for a little over a year now. I was thinking about a change, but I really like it black.

This was actually the first time it stung that much. I think it was because I used 2 bottles and I had a lot of chemicals sitting on my scalp. What color is your hair? You've never wanted to dye it?

When I was 15, Sheri wouldn't let me dye my hair. You have to keep dying it or it looks like ass. That's a bit too much committment for me.

hey this is snareanothrpill from the dyehards community. i deleted my journal, but i can still most anonymously. regarding the black hair colour, it wasn't the lighting, my hair is blue black, well, a rathermore viloet blueish. anyway, its really pretty. it's because i don't buy premixed hair dye in the boxes from the brands in like walmart. i get mine from sallys beauty supply and i use 30 volume developer and mix them. i use a level 1 base blue/violet black and it's really pretty when the sunlight hits it, cuz it shimmers blue. hope i helped, ask if you need anything.

Thanks for the info! I've always just used the premixed boxed haircolor becaused I'm afraid I'll mess it up if I have to mix it myself. I've been coloring my hair for close to 10 years now, so I guess I should probably try it, lol. What all do you have to buy? How does the price of doing it this way compare to the boxes? Does the blue fade quickly? Since my hair is currently black, do I have to do anything to lighten it first?

Sorry for all the questions. I just really love your hair! That's the color I've wanted for a while now and I wasn't really sure how to go about doing it.
