Another day, another plot arc...

Oct 16, 2006 23:31

Galvatron sits in his command chair on the Dis, running the ship through its preflight checks; mostly to occupy his hands and mind, since he's waiting on Soundwave's data analysis and everything in him denies the possibility of doing nothing. Especially in such an unprecedented situation as this one. The Prime goes missing and the Autobots ask him ( Read more... )

*in Soundwave's quarters, at one of the screens, apparently on the human internet*

Yo, Soundwave?

Yes, Rumble?

I got that Drath guy's phone number for you. *taps the screen* He keeps all his illegal deals undercover, right? But he's a big man in legit business too, so he's gotta have a place where people can reach him.

Dumb geek put his number on his company intranet site. *grins*

((I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It was just too tempting. *ducks and runs!*))

...

*Soundwave's mask and visor forbid all possibility of an O_O face. His body language does a fair job of conveying the idea anyway.*

Well done, Rumble.

*into intercom* Information retrieved, Galvatron. Transmitting.

*there's a 'ping' at the control panel - the normal little noise somehow still managing to sound anxious. Three guesses who it is?*

*really, really doesn't want to get yelled at for interrupting, butbutbut wants to do something!* //Um, milord? Anything yet?// *anxious fidget on the other end of the line*

*gets that, since Galvatron's on the other line and overlap of conversations here would be very inconvenient*

Don't panic, we're onto him. Galvatron's got it under control. *looks at Galvatron to confirm he's gotten the right idea of this plan* Now listen carefully. For all public purposes, we're not allied with the Autobots over this. Drath has to think that the Decepticons are acting in their own interests. Understand?

*realises too late that he just gave away the name of their target, and is grateful that this connection is under full Decepticon battle encrypt. If Drath is eavesdropping on any of their comms, at least he shouldn't hear this one.*

*nodnods furiously, then facepalms* //...Got it. Makes more sense if we're going to do something about it- oh. Oh, no, if they knew how to get hold of the others they might know I hang around there all the time!// *crestfallen* //I'm compromised now, aren't I?//

*beardlings flock to the console she's sitting at and chirp at Scourge over the comm; We do something? What can we do? Can we help?*

((Well, you did want to be the only non-humanised Unicronian. I guess it works for the plot if Galvatron "banishes" you for a bit... how do you feel about the idea?))

((Everyone in my head is currently trying to doublecross someone as far as I can tell. It's complicated in here.))

Still in quest of what has disturbed him, Duskwing drifts through the Dis, invisible and intangible. If it had not been a purely personal thing, Duskwing finally concluded after much pondering, it had to be some larger thing that affected him. He'd stepped outside long enough to see that nothing was attacking Cybertron--okay, so it wasn't that large-scale a disturbance. That left Autobots, Decepticons, and possibly Circuit Breaker. The Decepticons were closest, and Duskwing was lazy. He'd check things out there first.

Duskwing had never really paid attention to the new Decepticon leader before; Galvatron had taken over long after Duskwing's death and subsequent loss of interest in Decepticon politics. So, this was Galvatron. There was something oddly familiar about him, and something too alien, as well. He hovered, listening....

*shivers, wings twitching, and glances nervously over his shoulder. Did something just brush past him?*

Ghostly eyes narrow, and Duskwing stops to consider the strange blue Decepticon with the odd wings.

This guy sure is fidgety. What the slag is he, anyway?

Duskwing looks him over from several angles, getting more and more puzzled.

And what does he turn into? If those wings bend that way, and fold there... Nah, still makes no sense. I give up. I'll just have to watch and see what he does sometime.

Duskwing shrugs invisibly. Whatever, whoever, he's important. Galvatron's number two--Screamer's replacement? Eh, who cares. Wasn't him that woke me. I think. Hey, I know that voice!

Duskwing drifts over to another console, looking for owner of the voice he just heard.

Duskwing peered over Galvatron's shoulder, still invisible. Yes! That was Soundwave he'd heard! Someone familiar was still around. So much had changed, and strangely. It seemed impossible that Megatron no longer lead the Decepticons; Megatron had been the Decepticons for so many millions of years. Without Megatron, it didn't seem right that they should even call themselves Decepticons.

What had Slog told him? Something about Optimus Prime and Megatron dying--and Starscream killed. That part he was sure of--Starscream couldn't have caught him if he were living. But what about Galvatron? The artist had said something about Galvatron and Megatron. If only he could remember...

Duskwing studied Galvatron. There was something familiar about him, though Duskwing knew he'd never seen him before. Something about the way he sat, cradling the cannon in his left arm...

*is deep in conversation with Drath, but shivers a bit as Duskwing peers over his shoulder, chaos-touched senses subconsciously detecting the presence of something uncanny*

*the Dis is even more puzzled, since the presence of a ghost does strange things to its sensor arrays* *as Galvatron is busy, it's to Cyclonus that the warship relays its concerns*

~~lieutenant? something-that-is-not-a-thing is on the bridge~~

((do you want my guys to figure out that he's there yet, or shall I just have Cyc think it's a sensor glitch?))

((I plan to have Duskwing pull his 'I'm just perfectly normal JoeRandom Seeker' act and wander in fully opaque in a bit to ask some stupid questions. If you've read Dead and Drunk, you'll know there's some holes in his act... having this unfold slowly should be interesting. Also, Cyc strikes me as the skeptical sort. cf. Starscream's Ghost, in the Crypt, which also showed that Cyc is about as supernaturally sensitive as a fencepost.))

(( But do bring Cyclonus to the bridge. Duskwing needs to snicker at his bunny ears :-) ))
