[He blinks in slight surprise for a seconds before uncapping the top and sniffing. Actually, he's never had any kind of alcohol . . . But hey, he wasn't complaining.]
The box is hinged, like a flat jewelry box. Opening it, he'll find a piece of paper with a mess of flourishy handwriting, covering a small silver medallion. It features a woman, eyes to the heavens, lit from behind by a thunderbolt. The paper reads:
According to legend, St. Barbara was originally born a pagan, raised in a tower and sheltered from the world by her rich father. She converted to Christianity (a crime punishable by death in those days) and studied in secret without his knowledge, while he was away. This was a secret she could not keep forever, however, and was eventually found out. She kept the faith through all of her trials and torture, performing miracles at night in her cell, and in the end it was her father that carried out her death sentence
( ... )
In it, are two tickets to see "Scott Pilgrim vs. The Entire Damn Universe" (a whole new movie that most worlds won't ever see! In superparallax 3D, you know, the kind where you don't need glasses?) in one of the near-future-dilated worlds. There's a card with an amusing picture inside of a chibi robot sitting in snow and wearing a Santa hat, and a note in the same super-legible script:
It's supposed to be a cool show! And you can take anyone you want! But if we go together, then you don't have to worry about making it there on time...

[The box opens to reveal a 16GB USB port with a black cat key fob attached to it. The red typewritten note in the box explains that there's a few decoding programs preloaded.]

Enclosed is a note in very carefully and beautifully written Chinese, with a translation underneath because who here can read Chinese?
I know you like to work with machines, so when I saw something called a Sonic Screwdriver I knew what I had to do. Hope you like it!

Written in chinese primarily, huh... he doesn't know anyone here that writes in Chinese.]

[Trying not to look too excited, he doesn't bother with shaking it or anything before beginning to slowly peel off the paper.]

Within the box is a big jug of a good cabernet sauvignon, and a note:
I don't know if we've even met, but this seemed like a good all-purpose gift.
