Calen, you are waaay to stressed out.
Look, think of it this way, you are not going to be the only person who doesn't show up for a class this week. That means that you will be able to sign up for ANOTHER class, whether or not it's your geology class. Trust me, m'dear. And, if the class is that important to you, why not just tell your boss that there are certain shifts you can't take to accomodate school? It's not your problem. Your manager/schedule person should take care of it since all those hours were just dumped on you. ALSO, you could do what I did and email your professors and let them know that although you are missing the first day of class, you will be there for every class for the rest of the term (supposedly) and PLEASE do not give your spot up to someone else because you really want to take that class.

There are options! All is not lost!
