Meeting the Guru pt.2-the signing

After Rob Brezsny's illuminating, inspiring talk, he invitied anyone interested to have books signed. I didn't have a book for him to sign, but got in line anyway. I have some photos I've been writing on and giving out to to people, so I figured I'd take the opportunity to give Rob one of them and thank him his writing over the years, and tell him ( Read more... )

I would agree in the sense that we are ALL special. Perhaps I should have used the word famous. My point was really that this was easily one of the most attractive women in the room, who was with a group of close friends. Yet, she had taken the time and made the effort to initiate a conversation with a very quiet, somewhat scruffy, rather pudgy guy behind her in line. None of those things are a knock on me...I'm pretty comfortable with who I am these days, but the fact is that who I am these days is not someone who often elicits conversation from beautiful strangers. I was appreciative of that, which is why I specifically said, "thank you for talking to me", when I gave her my web information. It was then that she gave me that look that confuses me. It's a look of recognition, as if people think they have seen me on tv, or on the back of my latest novel. And since I've gone this far into analyzing it, I will say this-I often wonder if it could be not recognition but pre-cognition, a look that says, "I know what you're going to do, and ( ... )
