So we'd like to start looking for a house... But it's so ridiculously expensive! I don't understand how all those people can afford a $200,000+ house. There's almost nighing below that. It's a bit of a downer really... It almost seems to mean that we'll have to settle for a crap hole of a house, or keep wasting our money on rent

i think affording those houses involves mortgaging out your soul. Or at least parts of it.
