okay, so I tried to find one that wasn't anti-war. pretty hard. here we go:

my third and last picture. this is an actual button from the civil war from our dearest south carolina:

from what i have found, the button honors the sc regiment that fought in the mexican war. the phrase "animus opibusque parati" translates to "prepared in spirit and resources", or more modern, "ready for anything". this is actually the lesser motto of sc, the main state motto being "dum spiro spero", meaning "while i breathe, i hope".
